Protein in urine
At 32 weeks my doctor said there is protein in my urine. She said not to worry they will check it again in 2 weeks. What does that usually mean?

Re: Protein in urine
It could be a sign that you might be developing pre-eclampsia.

Re: Protein in urine
I too spill protein into my urine. I have taken 3 24 hour urine tests since my 30 wk appt - what it pretty much means is that your kidneys aren't functioning correctly...don't worry the baby should be fine!!! My dr's told me if my protein was to immediately spike I should be prepared to be induced...i will be 36 wks on Thursday. As long as your blood pressure stay normal then they will probably just continue to watch you for Pre-eclempsia. Take one week at a time - there is nothing you can change. Feel free to FM me if you have ANY questions - i'm not a professional but I'm going through it.

Re: Protein in urine
I had protein in my urine too while I was pregnant. It caused me to develop pre-eclampsia and deliver 2 weeks early. My baby is 100% healthy- and having the pre-eclampsia didnt affect her at all. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me!

Re: Protein in urine
Preeclampsia is a condition that pregnant women can get. It is marked by high blood pressure accompanied with a high level of protein in the urine. Women with preeclampsia will often also have swelling in the feet, legs and hands. Preeclampsia, when present, usually appears during the second half of pregnancy, generally in the latter part of the second or in the third trimesters, although it can occur earlier.
What Is Eclampsia? Eclampsia is the final and most severe phase of preeclampsia and occurs when preeclampsia is left untreated. In addition to the previously mentioned symptoms, women with eclampsia often have seizures. Eclampsia can cause coma and even death of the mother and baby and can occur before, during or after childbirth.
What Causes Preeclampsia and Eclampsia? The exact causes of preeclampsia and eclampsia are not known, although some researchers suspect poor nutrition, high body fat or insufficient blood flow to the uterus as possible causes.

Re: Protein in urine
My blood pressure seems to be okay as of now. My doctor told me to look for signs of nausia and blurred vision. Did anyone that has preclampsia experience these symptoms? How early was everyone induced? I'm hoping for the best.

Re: Protein in urine
MY Blood pressure is still pretty good as well...that is what is keeping me undiagnosed. However i don't have headaches or blurred vision. I keep my feet up at work, and rest when i get home.
