Attention Dog Owners

Please, please if you have a Dog and a meter reader, phone or cable person etc comes into you house please make sure your dog is being restrained or blocked off from where this person is working in order to prevent dog bites. No matter how much you think that the dog wont bite someone it could happen.

My DH is a meter reader and yesterday was bit by a dog. When he came into the house he asked the owner to hold onto the dog- the owner told him "oh he is friendly". As DH was going down the stairs the dog charged him and bit the back of his leg. DH isnt going to press charges but if it was someone else they might have.

So please for the safety of the workers and your sake hold onto your dogs.

Re: Attention Dog Owners

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your DH is okay. We always crate our dog when the meter reader comes in. Who wants a dog following you around and in your way when you just want to get them in and out.

And that is great advise.... growing up my mom always put our dogs away when anyone came into the house... we knew they were friendly, but they're also protective...

It's so ingrained in me now, that the kids get put in the other room when someone comes in to do work.

Thanks everyone! Yes he is ok but it could have been worse. He took off from work today but will be back tomorrow.

I always put Shammy in his crate when someone comes in that he doesnt know. You never know!

Re: Attention Dog Owners

I'm sorry abut your DH. I dont get why people would leave their dogs out when someone comes in to do work or what not. I always Crate my dogs or put them behind the gate depending on what access the person needs to the apt.
