Reproductive Specialists of NY

Hi all. I am new on the boards. Have been a patient at RSofNYfor the past year. I have "unexplained female infertility" and have had two IVF's that both ended in a misscarriage (5 wk and almost 9wks). I am thinking about going for a consult at another fertility clinic - as I feel RSofNY is not giving me enough information/explanation as to what our fertility issues are to begin with and information about what may be causing the two miscarriages besides saying "it must be chromosomol". Thants not good enough for me at this point.
Have any of you had positive or Negative experiences at RSofNY that you could share? Also - looking for recommendations for other fertility clinics in the lOng Island area that you ladies would recommend or stear me clear of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dr. braverman (or as everyone here calls him, dr. B) is amazing. many girls on here love him. hes esp good if youve had repeat losses since he speacializes in recurrent preganancy loss. he is my hero, my DD wouldn't be here if it wasnt for him.

Thanks for the info so quickly. I heard of Dr. Braverman - so I already scheduled a consult for the beginning of Feb. Any important info you can give me about Dr. B, his office and how things work there would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY

He's a hero for many people, but he's not a magic ticket. He's certainly not MY hero. I'd make consults with a few different places and not rely on him and his protocols/concoctions. He's not for everyone. (sorry, just offering a different perspective). I think sometimes with all these meds and protocols, less is more. He's a drug hog and loads you up with things I find aren't always necessary.

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY

I've been a patient with RSONY for years and I've been happy with them. There are one or two doctors I'm not crazy about but on the whole, I've been happy with my care. We conceived our DD with them on the first IUI we had and although TTC #2 hasn't been an easy road (multiple failed IUI's and 3 miscarriages) now that we're back with them to try AGAIN I've been happy so far with my care. The nurses are REALLY wonderful and 98% of the RE's are too.

Everyone experiences will be different and you need to go where YOU feel most comfortable. Just because I, or someone else, has had a good experience with RSONY it doesn't mean you will as well. It can't hurt to get another opinion, especially when it comes to IF issues. Good luck! Chat Icon

I had a similar experience. Wasn't a fan. Lack of explanation of things gone wrong. Very blase about treatment. Felt like a dollar sign instead of a patient.

I just started at LIIVF, but I can't say much about them just yet.

I have to agree with this. He has done some amazing things for many women on this board, but I feel that women hold too much stock in him. Just because he can get and keep a pregnancy for one, doesn't mean he can do the same for you...or me for that matter! He is not a saint, or a magician.

There is LI IVF, which has combined with East Coast Fertility. 9 doctors, 7 monitoring locations...I personally love this practice. All of the doctors that I have met with are wonderful, and I can't wait to start my IVF with them.

edited because I can't type this early!

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY

I am also a former RSofNY patient and just switched...I did not like that I barely saw a doctor when I was cycling...I am now going to NSUH...all the procedures are performed by doctors, even u/s, and you can be monitored all throughout the day which I really like...I have not cycled there yet but so far I like it...I would def consult with different facilities and see which one will be a good fit for you

I had a great experience with RSofNY. I go to the Mineola location and see Dr. Saketos and really really like her. I conceived my DS after my first injectable IUI cycle. I am going back on Thursday to get started on our protocol for DC#2. Everyone has different experiences with every doctor, so I would interview a few and find "your" doctor. Lots of luck!!

The one thing I loved about Dr. B was that he did an immune panel testing that most places don't do. Aside from TTC I found some minor things that mean I need to be on metnax and baby aspirin FOR LIFE. Once I started the metnax I really started to feel better in my daily life. So I am so glad I have that information because it will help me forever regardless of fertility.

I also liked that he prescribed intralipids, every time I would get the infusion after an IUI I felt SO physicaly good afterwards. I wish I could have continued them, but LI IVF wouldn't prescribe.

I then moved to LI IVF (Melville) bc Dr. B stopped taking insurance and I don't have OON.

I have to say their practice compared to Dr. B's is a complete 180. It is beautiful, clean and their monitoring hours 6:30-8am worked perfectly for me, literally I would be in and out in 10 minutes! I thought they were very organized and professional, whereas Dr. B's was more disorganized. Sometimes I would wait close to 2 hours which was ridiculous, and always 1 hour minimum. This became very difficult when trying to go on your lunch break and minimize time missed at work. But I did like his staff very much, they were always very nice. Also towards the end when my insurance ran out Dr. B let me continue my cycle with him till the end free of charge, I really appreciated this a lot.

The one negatiove (for some) thing at LI IVF is I never saw my Dr. besides my first consultation, but she called me many times after every single test to discuss. This didn't really bother me since I felt I could always get in touch with her, but it may bother some.

Good luck in your search!

Edited to fix run on sentence.

My dd and this pregnancy (I'm 20 weeks) are both with the help of rsofny. I only saw dr. Lydic so I can only comment on him. I only did iuis but I can see how you could get lost in the shuffle at rsofny. Best of luck to you!

Re: Reproductive Specialists of NY

I have been going there since I found out I had PCOS (over 2 years now) and working with them on TTC since May. I honestly LOVE the doctors and nurses there. I find them very friendly and helpful. I do understand that it seems sometimes like a factory (for lack of a better word). Right now I'm staying there because they know me, the hours work, the location is convenient, etc. however, I have not been successful after 4 medicated cycles and 4 IUIs.

Thank you to all of you for sharing your experiences and opinions regarding different fertility centers. I am def. going to go to a few for consults...that way I can better determine if I feel I am in the right place at RSofNY. I really appreciate the feedback!
