Re: Tv in bedroom

I only got a tv in my bedroom when I got married.

No tv's in our children's rooms...ever. We already took out the cables that were in those rooms when we purchased the house.

Re: Tv in bedroom

My kids don't and I have no intention of getting them one any time soon. I have no problem with them watching tv, but the bedroom is for sleeping.

Re: Tv in bedroom

Definitely no TV's in DC's bedrooms. At least not for a long time yet. DW and I don't even have a TV in our bedroom. DS is 8.5 and DD is 5.5 and they have no need to have a TV in their room.

Re: Tv in bedroom

NO tv's in the bedrooms.. PERIOD! Mine or theirs.

It's a small miracle that I consented to having 2 tv's hooked up right now in the entire house (living room and playroom).

Re: Tv in bedroom

Absolutely not.

No TVs in ANYONE's bedroom

The only reason my brother's room has one is because that's the guest room.

AJ is 3. Who knows what the future holds but as of today. No TV in the room.

Re: Tv in bedroom

Growing up, I got a tv in my bedroom pretty early on. Maybe 6? Honestly, I don't think it harmed me in any way. I like tv, but not a crazy amount. right now the only show i watch is grey's. in the fall i also watched homeland and american horror story. as a kid, i read a ton and was not a tv addict at all. i had shows i liked, but not in a way that interfered with my life at all.

that said, my kids dont have a tv in their room. they share a room and are 3 and 2. we've contemplated it because my older one has trouble falling asleep and tv does relax her. we thought settling in for an episode of einstein in bed, followed by our usual story and a song, might be helpful. right now, she goes from crazy running around and playing to calm down and listen to a story, and she fights it.

we have a tv in our room. i never watch it. ever. dh has maybe once or twice. i'm not comfortable watching tv in bed. ok, i guess i take it back--i have watched tv in bed--when im sick, on bed rest, etc, and am confined to the bed for a day or more and not able to read because of headaches, medicine that makes me dopey, etc. Last year i did watch a ton of tv in bed all day long and all night long after my surgery. the meds made me unable to sleep and too stupid to focus on a book or anything else really.

i dont know, I don't want to make it the forbidden fruit, you know? Where you make it so "bad" that it becomes so desirable. It was never really an issue for me. i dont think i was ever told to turn off the tv. i was never told to go read a book. i still found the right balance. the only thing that was forbidden for me was video games. and i wanted it baaad. but in the long run, i have no interest in those, either.

No. We have one in our bedroom but we hardly use it. I mostly use it for the news and weather when I get up in the morning. DD will not be getting one in her room for a long, long time (if ever Chat Icon).

Re: Tv in bedroom

Both of my DC have Tv's in there rooms. They are not turned on. We did this now so we didn't have to do it years down the road. The walls were already apart so we just did it now. (we have wall mounted tv's)

We already have 3 TV's--LR, den, finished basement...there is no need for DC to have one in their bedroom.

DS is 2 and he does not have a tv.

His room is wired for cable and internet, so it's a probability in the future, but not now.

My ds has always had a tv and DVD player, no cable though. I let him watch a movie before bed in there.

Re: Tv in bedroom

We do not plan on ever having a TV in DS' room. When we had our house wired for FIOS, we purposely asked them not to have a live cable going to his room as we did not intend to have a tv there.

Our plan for the future is that if our child/children want to watch TV, it will be in the family room only, where they are supervised and in the company of others.

My parents were always against me having a TV in my bedroom bc they felt that it encouraged kids to spend too much time alone in their rooms and away from family. I got a TV when I was 13 but only bc my aunt gave it to me for my bday. I rarely watched TV in my room by this point since I was so used to watching the fanily TV.

My girls do not have TVs in their room. I don't think it is appropriate for a 2 and 4 year old to have a TV in their room.

My kids do not have a tv in their room. I did not get one until after I graduated from College and I feel that I will make them wait until College to have a TV of their own.
