WW isn't working
Update: I have been averaging 23 points a day this week - I saved up knowing Friday would be high points since we went to dinner with friends.
Here's a sample day: Breakfast - black coffee - 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt, 1 tsp honey and fresh berries Lunch - 2 cups 1 pt. veggie soup (homemade) - 100 calorie sandwich thin, 1 tbsp peanut butter - raw veggies, apple as snack Dinner - Arugula, 4 oz tuna, 1 tbsp light dressing. Steamed broccoli/cauliflower with chicken broth and 1 sweat potato with a little butter
Maybe I just need to be patient - Thanks for the support, I wish it was as easy to loose as it is to gain!
__________________________ Any advice?
Background - I was pretty healthy up until September when I had some issues and couldn't work out. Added to that December was a total pig-out and I start Jan 1 12 pounds heavier than I want to be. Ideally, I want to loose 16 so I have a little buffer room. At this point, I will take 8-10!
So I joined WW, have been following since Jan 1 and I am only down 4 pounds. I haven't lost anything this week. (weigh-in day mon)
I am following it to a letter and tracking everything. I have been going out once per week but saving up extra points all week to compensate.
Also, I started running again. I am running about 20 miles a week (that takes me about 3 hours) and I haven't worked out at all since September.
Overall, the WW hasn't really changed my eating - I have always been a healthy eater. No soda, juice. I cook almost all my own meals and eat a ton of veggies/fruit. With WW, I have been very careful with portion sizes and have been cutting out carbs and def eating less at each meal per serving guidelines. I have also cut out all sweets (which I was really just overloading on in Jan) and limiting drinking to my points value and once per week.
Yet, with this increase in activity and better eating - I am not seeing results.
Maybe more of a vent but any suggestions would be helpful. I am really feeling like giving up.

Re: WW isn't working
You may be exercising so much and not eating ENOUGH, which then leads to little to barely any weight loss at times. I suspect that may be what is going on.
Are you losing anything each week? Or gaining? Tell us more.
Also the less you have to lose, the slower it will come off.

Re: WW isn't working
When you work out, make sure you track your activity points.
Like the above poster said, you may be working out, but, not eating enough/not getting all your points in!

Could you post exactly what you are eating in a typical day? Portion sizes included?

Re: WW isn't working
You said you joined January 1 which puts you on the program for 4 weeks. Since you lost 4 pounds that averages out to one pound per week. Healthy weight loss is about 1lb/week. You're right on target!
You also wrote that you only have around 16lbs to lose. When you have a smaller amount to lose it takes a little bit longer (as opposed to someone with 100+ to lose, they may see 5lb losses within a week).
Keep at the pound a week and you'll be at your goal by April. Slow and steady wins the race.

This,......you just started and are down so it is working. WW is about small losses so it is more likely for you to keep it off. Programs where you drop weight quick tend not to work in the long run.

Re: WW isn't working
I did ww on the old plan and it was great. I was on the new plan for two weeks and did not lose a thing. I was staying within my daily points so I'm not sure why it didn't work but I too, got frustrated and stopped. Now I am doing the 17 day diet which for cycle 1 is tough but I am seeing results

You should not be eating only 23 points per day. The bottom number anyone gets is 26. Also, are you hungry? That doesn't seem like a huge amount of food, especially during the mid day.

This. you are not supposed to "save up" your daily points. you HAVE to eat them - DAILY. Use your splurge points for when you splurge, east less (or more 0 point foods) the day you're going out, exercise more that week to convert points - but you can't borrow 3 points from Monday and use them on Friday. That is not how WW works.
Like PPs said, a pound a week is great, normal and healthy. Esp. when you only have a few to lose.

Re: WW isn't working
I did WW a few years back, only for a month or so. I couldn't eat all the points i was supposed to eat in a day, unless i pigged out or drank a lot of wine that day.
i don't know- i gain weight so very easily. one piece of cake and i can gain a few lbs the next day.
it's very hard for me to lose weight--i need to be super strict, do cardio AND weights--without weights, i don't really lose weight.
the only time in my life where weight fell off me was when i was pregnant with my second baby and nursing my first. i was starving all the time and eating constantly (healthy, but all the time.) I wasnt working out either. the half of my pregnancy i lost about 7-8 lbs. when i stopped nursing, it came back full force.
all that said, sounds like you are right on track for healthy weight loss. 1-2lbs per week is perfect for the amount you want to lose.
