former student passed away

I posted Tuesday this was a boy from my school and accordign to a former student of mine he doed yesterday. So sad. If anyone sees an update in teh paper please let me know i have been watching and looking in papers for an update but havent found any. Thanks



Teen Fighting For His Life After Nearly Drowning While Crabbing In Brooklyn

A teenager remains hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after nearly drowning while crabbing with a friend in a creek near the border of Brooklyn and Queens Monday afternoon.

Police harbor units were able to rescue 17-year-old Alberto Cruz. Published reports say Cruz didn't know how to swim.

His father says the boy simply went in too deep.

"Bottom of this works like quicksand and it ***** you in and his friend tried to go in. So the way he explained it was that it was sucking him into the ground and it was already up to his chest. So his friend got out and if it wasn't for the kid that was pointing it out to the EMS units and the rescue units that were here that responded so quickly and thank God they did, I don't think he would have ever made it," said Miguel Torres.

Cruz was in the water for about 25 minutes
