What is up with Karate Class Pricing?
Emily has always had interest in taking Karate classes but lately she has been asking about it a LOT.
She currently does Girl Scouts, Dance, and Religion Class but religion is over at the end of March so I thought it would be OK to take on another activity. She'd still only have activities 3 days a week this way, which is what we have grown used to.
I asked a few friends whose kids take Karate lessons and they all ranged from $130-147 a month! I thought this was kinda crazy! We pay $48/month for her dance class, and I can't afford over $200 a month in activities, or another activity that is 3x the cost of the dance that she is currently in.
I do not want her to quit dance to make room for Karate, because she's been doing it for 2 years now and she's doing well with it.
Are all Karate schools priced this way? Any more affordable options out there?

It was around that price when we were looking a while ago. They usually go to more than one class a week though.
I would look through the town or YMCA. They typically do one day a week and the price is less.

Yes it is pricey. Ds 2 will start next year and it will be 3 k for the both of them per year

The place DS used to go too, this was 3 or more years ago, used to charge $75 a month. I just looked them up and now it's $109 a month w. unlimited classes and free uniform.

Where we go if you do 6 months it is $525 for white, yellow and orange belts. You make 3 payments of 187.50 for that.
3 months is a little bit more each month.
They go two times a week.

We pay $130 a month for Tae kwon do and he's only yellow belt.

We had signed DS for karate a few years ago, not realizing that the $110 a month price skyrocketed to $189 a month after 3 months!! Needless to say he didn't stay a fourth month.
I think the pricing is out of control.

I don't know where you are, but when I was younger I did karate through the PAL (police activity league) maybe do a search online and see if there is something around you. Also, i know the town of hempstead does a karate program sometimes. Maybe check what ever township you live in .
And I agree....pricing is CRAZY!!! Same for summer camp/activities!!
