is your dog considerate?

i realize that might sound like a weird question, but i've been noticing lately that my dog is really considerate. if i'm playing a game on the floor, she always walks around it or jumps over it. she never messes up anything. if i'm stretching on the floor, she comes and lies down right next to me, but never gets in my way. just now, i was drawing on my bed, and when she jumped up on the bed, she literally almost tripped over herself trying to avoid my sketch pad. i've had dogs my whole life and i've never had this experience before...my dogs growing up would step on my papers, knock over my game pieces, and climb all over me whenever i was on the floor. so, i'm just wondering if this is common.

Haha I get your question completely! I have two dogs- a collie/shepherd mix (Irwin) and a pit bull/boxer mix (Lucy). Irwin is extremely gentle and considerate. But, I think that has a lot to do with the fact that he's a little finicky himself. He likes his space. He doesn't mind when I cuddle him since I've been invading his personal space since he was 10 weeks old but he does NOT like my other dog to be laying touching him. It kills me because all she wants is to be touching whoever she is laying with and he will jump up if she so much as brushes him with her tail. But, Irwin takes great care in not disturbing anybody else. Lucy, on the other hand, is RUDE beyond belief. I tell her all the time how rude she is. Haha. She constantly tries to climb into people's laps, if she's standing next to where you're sitting and you lean over to grab something she'll lick your face, if I'm sweeping the floor and make a pile she will walk right through it, sometimes if I'm reading in bed she'll just crawl over and lay down on my Nook so I can't read anymore. RUDE! But she does it in such a cute way that it's adorable and not imposing.

Not at all!!!!

Steps on me, steps on my phone if its next to me, bangs my laptop with her paws, etc.
If I tell her no or get off I get the sad eyes then I feel bad lol

Casey is all over the place, if she wants something she will take it... meaning if she wants to be on your lap she will get in your lap and if you're too busy looking at laptop and not her she will try to nudge it away. DH calls her a Pit Bully.

I complain to DH that she's "always touching my stuff" like we're little kids & she's my younger sister LOL

Ozzie is! It's too funny. I first noticed this when taking him out to the bathroom - he is SO careful not to step in anything yucky, he doesn't even like to walk through puddles. In the apartment he is so good, also doesn't get in my way if I'm exercising, moves over to make room for me on the sofa or bed, won't jump OVER us to get off the furniture, always tries to go around. It's really very funny!!!

I totally get what you're saying! My dog has a mild temperament, so she's fairly considerate...unless she wants to play, and then she tries to shove her toy at your until you throw it. She also hates when I'm on my laptop and ignoring her...she'll try to push it off my lap.

NO. My dog plows through us when we sit on the floor, etc. He just wants to play with us and whatever we are playing with. My female is afraid so she stays clear of things like that.

Oh my goodness no! I cant sit on the floor or anywhere for that matter without him laying all over me. If I am using my IPad he is right there pawing me and the IPad untill I put it down. I cant read the paper without him climbing in my lap.

But I love him so much!

Delilah is... she "asks" for things (like to jump on the bed, she'll sit beside it and put her paw on it and look at you)... she'll just sit and look while we play a game or even if DH sits on the floor to watch TV...

Sampson is so not... he needs to be in my/DH's face all the time... sitting on laps (at 95 lbs!)...walking/following us so if we stop short he practically runs into us... jumps on the bed when ever he wants (and usually lands on you).. Steps on you when ever he gets the chance..

Murphy is NOT at all! He is actually getting worse as he gets older too. He hogs the bed more, knocks over DS' board games, and I always joke that if a "bad guy" came around he would send me down the river for a piece of cheese. But I love him to death anyway!

both our dogs are pretty inconsiderate but our cockapoo is a regular Mini Marley! If DH or I have our laptop on our laps he comes and either puts his head on the keyboard or its and leans his back against the screen so that it closes

He is also so nosy and has to sniff and get his face into everything whether it be some socks I'm about to put on or a shopping bag I brought into the house. He is the ultimate personal space invader too. He is friggin adorable though so I can never be mad.

I get what you are saying. However, my dog is NOT like this at all. If I am working out and lay on the floor, she jumps on me. When I am organizing paperwork on the floor, she will walk all over them to get to me and sit on my lap.

My dog likes to sprawl out in the hallway and she doesn't budge when she sees me trying to step over and around her, so i will say no, she's not considerate.
