Settle a dispute between DH and I...(totally bizarre convo)
Last night DH was petting Charlie's belly and he said that he feels weird petting her where her nipples are even though she LOVES getting her belly and underside pet. I said that he shouldn't feel weird...it doesn't mean anything, they are just THERE...
It turned into a long debate between how many nipples girl dogs have and how many boy dogs have.
My argument was that girl dogs and boy dogs must have the same amount --- his argument was that boy dogs don't have as many bc they don't need them for anything...I told him...."Why do you have the same # as me then, you don't need them for anything."  Lol...I don't know how we end up having these conversations!
Anyway, we are both afraid to google it --- afraid of what will come up if we google this question...
So settle our dispute! Who is right?

I have a male and female dog and I guarantee my female has more nipples.
ETA: I don't know if my male dog has any now that I think of it...  I rub his belly all the time and it's smooth.
ETAA: I googled. The number varies, according to dogster.com which is the only real answer I see anywhere. I'm going to go home and give both dogs a thorough belly rub to settle this once and for all.

I found 4 nips on my boy...he has a really hairy belly though so there could be more...pretty sure my girl has at least 6...didn't want to disturb her

Ok I had to do it. I just counted my girls nipples (weird even saying that) and she has 8 - evenly distributed.
My boy has 8 as well but they aren't even on his belly and it even looks like one of them doesn't have a "Black tip" like the others - He's also a fatty!
I am going to ask DH to look tonight bc with my boy it's hard. He's so round these days and like i said they aren't even with each other so some could be beauty marks!

And when I told my DH that I started a thread about it he just

is this the wierd kinda ssshhiit that happens when you are close to giving birth??? just wanna prepare my dh for some interesting convos!!! lol xoxoxo

Based on a google search, it seems that diff dogs can have a diff amount of nipples, but males and females should have the same number (somewhere between 6 and 10 seems the be the general consensus).

im not sure what would be more funny... working at google and seeing the influx of "dog nipple" searches coming in... or the image i am getting of PPs rolling their dogs over to count nipples...
