Laparoscopy

Long...sorry

Anyone ever have a Laparoscopy for unexplained abdominal pain?

I have history of lower right side abdominal and through to the back pain. I have kept a pain log and I "think" it's related to my cycle. Even though sometimes it happens for the heck of it. (I had similar pain as a teen - went on BC for 12 yrs and never had it again - now off BC for almost 3 years and been suffering with this the entire time)

It can be debilitating at times and at this point it's keeping me from enjoying life.

I've had every test under the sun.
-Numerous CT Scans
-Gallbladder Test
-X-Rays
-Endoscopy
-Colonoscopy
-Sonograms

I have multiple kidney stones, but that's not what's causing the pain (they say)

My Gyn suggested getting a Laparoscopy to check things out and see if there's any adhesions or anything that can be the cause of the pain.

Anyone experience this before? and if so, did you find the cause and fix it??

TIA

Re: Laparoscopy

my mom had it done when she had endometriosis. they do that procedure to remove scar tissue and adhesions. i think they go through the belly button or right next to it.

i think my mom recovered pretty fast from what i remember and i believe they knock u out for it.

Re: Laparoscopy

I just had one done on Tuesday, they found endometriosis, scar tissue and adhesions from my previous appendectomy, and ovarian cysts....all of which my dr removed. My shooting sharp pelvic pains have stopped!

The recovery isn't that bad, 4 days later and I'm feeling great. The worst part was the gas pains after the surgery, bc they pump your body with gas during the surgery and some of it gets trapped in there.

In my opinion, well worth the surgery. Good luck!

I had one for endo also. I was in some pain for about 2 days but it was mostly from the gas they pump into you. I slept on propped up pillows so it was easier to get up from bed. I was pretty much back to normal in 4 days and could be more normally physically active. Search the Infertility board too for some info and experiences.

Good luck!

I was experiencing horrible pains for a long time... went for CT Scans, colonoscopy, etc. They did a laparoscopy cause they thought it was endometriosis... everything was fine... the only thing they found was a very full bowel. I still get pain somethime... I just assume its due to my IBS.

no problems urinating at all

another dr suggested maybe I should see a muscle skeletal dr too incase its a muscle causing the issue. I almost feel like it's a nerve because of the way it travels from front to back and its sharp and twingy - almost like a charlie horse It was so bad yesterday, but I'm also ovulating which makes it worse!!!!! AGHHH

Thanks for all of the responses
