Needed help with Camp Prices , please!
Hi Ladies,
Wanted to post here too because you have more experience with sending kids to camps...
We come back up to NY every summer. DS will be 2.5 this summer and we've been throwing around the idea of having him go to a local camp for two days a week.
The camp would be at one of the South Shore Y locations and would be two days a week, 9-4, for six weeks. Ends up coming out to $137 a day. Is it worth it? I don't have any idea of how much camps cost so I wanted to ask you guys.
I don't have many more details as of yet- don't know about meals, snacks,etc - if I provide or they do.
Thanks for any input!

I'm sending DD (2.5) half day, same area, for $375 for the summer. It's a litte camp, not like the Y. DS (5) has the option of going to the BSSD camp. Full day, meals included, it's about $1000.
I know the Y is a little expensive, but some private camps are a lot more. I hear they have a great camp program.

Wow - could you tell me what camp this is? The Y camps are great camps and DH and I both grew up in them, but it seems $$$$ for his age!

Hmmm...not sure where you got the $137 from? Kiddie Camp at the Y in Bay Shore is $420.00 for 2 full days per 3 week session. It's works out to be $70 per day for 2 sessions (6 weeks).

Which location? The only Y camp location is Glen Cove in Nassau County.
Sorry-I know I'm asking a lot of questions but do you mean the YMCA or the YCC? Clearly, I work for the Y and want to get you the info you're looking for. But I do know that the pricing for Kiddie Camp, even Glen Cove on a prorated basis is $70 per day.The list price is $1050 per session but that's 5 days a week. You can always register and do a special request form to get the 2 days. If it is the YMCA you're looking at, they don't provided snacks-you would bring your own.

For 2 years old I think that is a lot. You are better off taking him with you to the beach/park (sprinkler) and have him play with other kids.
