Anyone start having braxton hicks at 16 , almost 17 weeks?
I think I am already having them, I'll be 17 w in a couple of days. I did mention to my OB yesterday and he said it's normal , but that I shouldn't have more than 5-6 a day. I started feeling them at 25 weeks w DD so I'm surprised it's happening so early and a bit worried that this might be the sign I'll have another preterm labor. I'm supposed to hear from my OB about starting the progesterone shots, but wanted to ask he and see if anyone else got them so early and if you did, did you go into early labor?

I had them very early on, mostly for my first pregnancy. They continued throughout, but I never went early. In fact, I would have been late, had I not had a scheduled csection.

With each addition pregnancy I had them earlier than my 1st. My doc also said it was normal but to make sure you stay hydrated!

Yes, I had them that early with #2, it was very weird! Didn't mean anything because I was over a week late

These are not braxton hicks yet. They're normal cramping/tightening of the belly which are associated with your expanding uterus. I started freaking out about them too and my doctor assured me that they're normal.

Re: Anyone start having braxton hicks at 16 , almost 17 weeks?
I had that with my first pregnancy. It was twins so i was pretty big by 17 weeks and that could have had a lot to do with it. Dr said it was normal but I shouldn't have more than 5 or 6 (i think) an hour and to make sure i stay hydrated. They slowed up a bit after i started drinking more water but came back full force when i was around 22 weeks. Turns out my cervix was shortening. I was on bed rest and procardia and indomethicine and at 24 1/2 weeks i went into preterm labor and had to have a cerclage until i delivered at 32 weeks. Make sure you stay hydrated and if you feel they are getting worse, definitley call your dr back again.
ETA: I'm 22 weeks PG now and have not had them at all with this pregnancy.

With my first and second pregnancy I started having them around 19 weeks. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

Re: Anyone start having braxton hicks at 16 , almost 17 weeks?
Thanks ladies, I have been trying to drink more water this past couple of days, still feeling them. It's not painful or anything, just a weird feeling and annoying at times. I really didn't drink much water first 14 weeks bc it made my MS even worse, but now trying to do better .

. yes it's 5-6 per hour not in one day, I don't know why I thought he said 5-6 a day. I just called them and confirmed. They told me to rest as much as possible and drink, drink, drink water. I don't know about rest, no time for rest but will def try and drink even more than I am. I'm having 2-3 er hour, sometimes even more, so need to be careful

Then you need to take it easy mama...drink lots of water and get lots of rest!
