top 5 favorite books in the last 3 years
It's been awhile since I ready a really good, meaningful book. I'm trying to add some new ones to my to read list that I think I will really like, and not just as pure entertainment, but something with some depth that makes you think. Like Kite Runner, a Thousand Splendid Suns. My Sister's Keeper really touched me as well. So, what are your faves from the last 3 years? It's hard for me to really narrow down, but I'll give it a shot.
1. Hunger Games series (I know it's 3 books, but I'll count it as 1)
2. Night Road (not that popular, but it really evoked some emotion in me)
3. Water for Elephants
4. The Help
5. maybe Sarah's Key
I did read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. It didn't do it for me.

4. Painless - Derek Ciccone
5. Outlander - Diana Gabaldon(im not even done with the 1st book yet.)

1) Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett
2) Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen
3) The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein
4) Molokai - Alan Brennert
5) Hunger Games (have only read #1 so far)

In no particular order:
-Hunger Games Trilogy (more so the first 2 books, but you can't have those without the third IMO!)
-The Lovely Bones
-Water for Elephants
-The Millenium Series (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)- I'm still holding out hope for the next few books to be published.
-A Game of Thrones (I've also read the second book in the series and it wasn't as gripping as the first, so for now, I'm going to go with Book 1 only.)

I started to read this and started crying on page 2.  I'm sure it's a great story, but I'm saving it for a week when I need a good cry!

I thought the author passed away shortly after delivering the books? Are there more he wrote that haven't been published?

Well he wrote part of the next book and outlines of I believe two more books following that. He apparently never married his partner who is in posession of the next book and the outlines, but he did write a will stating that she should have rights to publish these. BUT, the will wasn't witnessed and so the remaining family is arguing that it's invalid and she has no claims to the manuscripts. It's an ongoing fight between her and the family which sucks because the only people losing out are the readers!!
