If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
What ended up happening with your second? Did you go into labor on your own? Were you late/early?
I was induced at 41 weeks with DS. I was given 1/4 dose of cervadril and that sent me into full labor - I had DS after 12 hours of labor (with 3 of the hours being pushing). Today my OB told me that she would like to see me induced at 39 weeks. She said that they let you go longer with your first baby because there is less chance of a c-section when you are induced. She said that we know I respond well to being induced and that it is very unlikely that I will go into labor on my own. This all seems very strange to me! Anyone's OB tell them similar? Anyone out there induced with the first pregnancy but not the second?

I was induced and delivered my first ds 6 days past my due date. I was going to be induced with my second DS a week past my due date, but I went into labor on my own the day before.

Induced with DD at 37wks due to increasing blood pressure.
With DS they discovered at 37 weeks that he was butt-breech, so he was a c-section.

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
I was induced at 40w 4d with DS #1. I was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks but I went into labor on my own at 38w 1d.
For thr first one, I had DS about 13 hrs after they started pitocin. For the second one, my water broke around 145, I had irregular contractions, they started pitocin around 6 and DS came at 729.

with DD#1 - I was induced at 12 days late, didn't have her until I was 13 days late and ended up with a c-section.
with DD#2 - had a section scheduled on the 16th, my water broke on the 13th and had my section that day instead. She was 9 days early from my due date

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
I was induced with all between 38-39 weeks due to GD and high bp. With all they were still hoping i would go into labor on my own. There was no talk of induction until th last appt at which I was sent in by the next day.

I was induced with my first, and had a scheduled induction for my 2nd, but went into labor on my own. I had them both vaginally.

Induced with DD#1 at 41 weeks. Pretty quick labor & delivery.
Went into labor with DD#2 at exactly 41 weeks too, and she practically flew out Literally

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
I was induced with DD#1 at 40 weeks 5 days, and it was similar to yours- just the Cervadil did the trick and I had a vaginal delivery (forceps at the end, but otherwise normal).
For DD#2, I went into labor at 38 weeks and had a vaginal delivery. Interestingly, both girls were within 3 oz of each other- luckily she came out before gaining another pound!!!
I would think that if you had just a little cervadil then you would be a good candidate for spontaneous labor, since you have given a vaginal birth already without much intervention. Of course, if your Ob has any concerns about the baby's size, health, or your health, then induction makes good sense.

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
Thanks ladies! I am finding it so odd that my OB is so certain that I won't go into labor on my own and even if she thought that that we wouldn't wait till at least 40 weeks to induce.

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
I was induced at 42 weeks with my first DS and had a c-section.
With #2, I chose a scheduled section. My doctors told me that given my history, I was unlikely to go into labor myself.
Both my sons were really small which I think contributed to it. My first was only 6 lbs, 3 oz at 42 weeks and the second was 5 lbs, 14 oz at 39 weeks.

Re: If you were induced with your first pregnancy...
I was induced after being 6 days late with the first.
The second time I went into labor Thanksgiving night, after cooking a whole meal. Lol I didn't even feel the contractions, but I started bleeding. I went to 4cm and labor stopped. After a few hours they offered me to go home or to get induced. I chose to get induced only because I wanted to be home for my son's birthday 2 days later. Looking back, that was kind of silly, but it was very important to me at the time.
