For smaller kids I would say Venitian in Lindenhurst. It is a bay beach. Has bathrooms close, beach hut for food, spray park and playground.
Everything is close so mommy doesn't have to walk to far for anything. Spray park is good for the kids if they are too small for the bay.

Re: Best beaches or pools in Suffolk
So many are controlled by the towns, which restricts the universe of people who can be there (or pay to be there), so i think that's a difficult question to answer.
I can speak for those in Huntington. I think Crab Meadow and Centerport are the best, but others might like Asharoken or Hobart better. If you want total seclusion, Crescent Beach is best.
What town do you live in?

I used to go to the Dix Hills pool when I was a kid. I LOOOOOOOOOOVED it. I haven't been there in like 20 years so maybe someone else can tell you more?

Corey Beach in Blue Point (I think that's the town.) Has a snack bar, good sand, playground right on the beach, and is a bay (So the waves aren't too much).

Centereach pool is great too! They have a kiddie pool, small sprinkler area and a main pool. But the main pool starts at 2.5 feet deep, so it's nice to take toddlers because they can stand.
