Pregant and mixed feelings!
I am posting under a fake name because I am a frequent poster. Is anyone else pregnant and just feeling so down and out? I have had a horrible experience my first trimester and with being sick etc... and i am feeling so down and out lately. I always knew I wanted to have a baby but with the way I have been feeling it's making me think that maybe I am not capable of being a good enough parent. I am so afraid of all the changes that are going to happen to me and I am honestly petrified. Please tell me this is normal.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
How far along are you?
Please don't feel that way.
I was also VERY sick in the first trimester- even a little bit into the second. I was SO DEPRESSED and unhappy. I've always wanted to be a mom, dreamed of it, etc. and when I actually found out I was pregnant- I was just crazy with emotions. Good and bad emotions. But you know what else? Numbness. I think it truly was the morning sickness or just plain shock or maybe stone cold from the terror of something going wrong, but I just felt... numb.
I started to get really scared and upset about it too because I never imagined I would feel/be like that. I cried to DH and made comments about getting postpartum depression in the PRE stages. I was about to bring it up with the doctor since it had been going on for so long when... poof... it just disappeared. All of a sudden, around the time of finding out the sex, I was just sooooooooo in love with my DD!!!! I started to get excited knowing the sex and registering and everything else that finally (but slowly) I started bonding with the baby and really being back to normal.
So I say, wait it out. If not, talk to your doctor about it. But no, you are not alone and what you are feeling has no indication over whether or not you'll be a good parent so you shouldn't doubt yourself or make yourself feel worse for feeling the way you do.
Pregnancy takes a huge toll on the body and mind.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
Thinking about everything all at once that will change is too overwhelming, so try to take it a little bit at a time to adjust! Like getting through the first tri, and then your next big appointment...what you're feeling is totally normal and I can relate.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
YES! and i don't like to admit it but yes absolutely feel the same way. im just not feeling myself at all and its so hard to feel like that day after day and simultaneously deal with everything else going on in your life while not being able to scream out that you are pregnant and let you be! i am so scared that i will feel like this for the next 9 months and i dont know if I can deal with it. I am trying to believe that the 2nd trimester does get better. And Im also trying to really believe that its all worth it. Its hard for me too because I am so strong mentally but physcially, when it comes to pain and just not feeling well, Im such a wimp and dont handle it well.
you are totally not alone!!!! and Im glad Im not either any time you wanna talk, please fm me, misery does love company!

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
I think its normal to feel that way. I had a rough first trimester too and it was so hard to picture taking care of a newborn while I was feeling so exhausted and sick all the time. I felt crappy for so long that I had forgotten what it feels like to feel healthy and energetic. Since entering my second trimester I've been feeling a lot better and not so intimidated by all the work involved in preparing for a baby. But even though I'm so excited to have my baby and feel so grateful for this blessing, I would be lying if I said I wasn't also incredibly nervous too. I just keep telling myself that DH and I will take it day by day and we'll figure it out. That's the best we can do! And I keep hearing that once you hold your baby in your arms you will fall in love immediately and your natural motherly instinct will kick in. I'm trying to trust in that and trying to enjoy pregnancy as much as I can because it goes by so quickly.

I've had moments like that too, thinking, what did I do? How am I going to handle X, Y, and Z? It's normal. There are a ton of changes taking place, hormones all over the place, and a lot to take in. Just go with the flow and find someone (even LIF) to talk to and go to for support when you need it.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
I had a horrible pregnancy. To the point i am thinking long and hard about having any more.
I was so excited to be PG because it took us 2 years. My 1st tri I was sick as could be. I started feeling better about 14 weeks in and then at 28 weeks I developed 3 blood clots and was pulled out of work and put in "house arrest".
I had alawys said I would never complain about beign pregnant because of how long it took me. I had days where I jsut didin't think I would make it though the 40 weeks. I thank god everyday that I deleivered at 37 cause I do not think I could have delt with the final 3 weeks.
I am so happy with DS. He is healthy and generally a happy little guy (after the first 8 weeks of colic). And I think I am a dam good mom so far.
You will get through this.

Everything she said!! I struggled with IF for 2.5 years so I never in a million years thought I would have been unhapy, but I defnitely had some depresion in the first trimester. I think it was a combination of being scared $hit, overwhelmed with hormones and emotions and the morning sickness. It does get begter. And PrePardom depression is a real thing.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
I feel this too. I didn't so much with my DS, but this pregnancy I am just emotional and overwhelmed. I've been so sick that every day is a struggle and now at 11 weeks I am on temporary bed rest due to some bleeding. It is hard and overwhelming (especially with a crazy job and an 18 month old I am struggling to care for) but I try to remind myself it will pass, the morning sickness will go and some energy will come back. And trust me once your baby is here, it is all worth it and the mommy in you will kick in.

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
I think it's normal for most women to feel this way, espesially with the first pregnancy, you are worried, scared & excited at the same time . Plus being hormonal and feeling like sh*** doesn't help. Everything will be fine , try to think positive and not stress. This will be my 2nd baby and I get scared and worried sometimes, thinking how am I going to do this with 2 kids, but then I look at my DD and all the fear and anxiety goes away

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
i was VERY depressed in my first tri. It has gotten much better now that i'm 21 weeks, but i still have bad days! I always feel like i'm the only pregnant women who thinks like this, and it makes it worse... I am terrified of post pardum depression too. I'm glad to see i'm not alone!

You're not alone. Although I feel great health wise, I have a lot of anxiety about becoming a mom. I think most people do feel that way

Re: Pregant and mixed feelings!
I had a crappy first trimester with DS and an even worse third trimester. Other than feeling him kick, I didn't enjoy the pregnancy. This time, I'm having a much easier pregnancy and am really enjoying it. There are certain things I don't like about it, but overall I'm happier this time around.
Your body goes through so many changes and plenty of them are unpleasant. It's normal to have mixed feelings about being pregnant.
