I just lost 23 pounds and im still working on it too hoping to losse 15 more. For me I pretty much stoped eating fast food & drinking soda. I limit how much I eat (portion control is a major). I also eat alot more fuits then i ever have. I still splurge on the weekends and will go out to eat but i will not finish my plate and If i do get a drink i try to only drink One.. I also work out 3-5 times a week for a hour.

Re: for those that lost weight
I am JUST starting to drop some weight after being stuck forever. I have been running a ton the last 2 years, but my body either got used to it or my diet is just better now, hence the drop.
I started taking a class called body combat at golds gym. It's amazing. Tons of kicking, arm workout etc all mixed with cardio. I take that 2 times/week, then i take a class called body pump which is all weights, to focus on toning and strength. I run 2x/ week instead of my usual 5.
I started cutting back on diet soda (a terrible vice of mine), and i started adding more protein and less carbs to my diet. I splurge one day a week and so far that is working. OHH i also don't drink a lot of beer on the weekend...the past 2 years i realized i would have between 3-6 regular beers on any given weekend. I now drink lite, and limit it to 2 or 3 drinks max.

Re: for those that lost weight
I don't eat carbs- like pasta, bread, cake cookies
no sugar (I am diabetic) no fake sugar either
I gave up most dairy- huge turning point in my weight lose and blood sugar
I eat real whole food- nothing processed - with the except of the protein bar I like (the only one that I can eat with out raising my blood sugar- despite what all the lables say)
I only drink water, green tea
I cut back on going out to dinner and drinking- I still do both- but I really watch what I order and eat-
I also do at least 90 mins of cardio a day-

That's my biggest change.
I can't say there is something I'll *never* eat, but I eat much smaller portions and I eat at home a lot more than I did when I was heavier.

Re: for those that lost weight
ETA: This is what I did (am doing) to lose weight
The key for me is: Low Calorie, Low (Good) Fat, Low (Good) Carb...
1200 - 1400 calories As follows: Breakfast: 250 calories. Lunch: 400 calories. Snack: 150 calories. Dinner: 400 calories
Nothing processed. The few exceptions are hummus, pita chips if I cannot make them myself, kashi or muscle milk bars for when I am working. Everything else I pretty much make.
Portion control: Meats: 3-6oz protien depending on the meal. Look for words like 93% lean, centercut, filet, etc. Starches are: 1/4 baked white or sweet potato or 1/3 cup brown rice but I prefer eating other grains like lentils, quinoa, beans, wild rice and barley. You can eat more, with better nutrients. Vegetables: Steamed or with very little garlic & oil. Salad with dinner every night.
Cut out: butter, oil (use pam as much as possible, if not olive oil mister), jelly, cream cheese, all hard cheeses except fat free feta, most bread & pasta (I use lavash bread, whole wheat pita, 100-cal english muffins, 80-calorie whole grain bread)
Desserts (if I want/need one) 2 squares 70% Dark Chocolate with 2 graham crackers (or a few mini preztles) 1/2 frozen banana with melted 70% dark chocolate rolled in hazelnuts 1/2 chocolate chip cookie (but it has to be a good one that I love, like the stop & shop ones)
I avoid, (but sometimes still have): Peanut Butter - I use Almond or Cashew Butter in it's place Strawberries - I have raspberries, blackberries and blueberries instead Watermelon. I have cantelope instead. Pignoli nuts & Peanuts Any of the following if RAW: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts
I aim to exercise 6 days a week, 30 minutes each time. 4 days of circuit training w/ 1 minute cardio intervals, 2 days of cardio
I've lost 11 lbs in 7 weeks.
