Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!
I was out of my school at a workshop today so I don't know if I received any cards or gifts....did anyone get recognized by students, parents or principals?!

Our PTA has been fantastic. Breakfast yesterday, a big card from the kids, little treats in our mailbox each day and lunch tomorrow. They really go above and beyond for us!

Nope... Lol our union rep had to call down to tell our principal about it about 5 mins before the end of the day. She then made a "thank you speech" as we lined up to dismiss

A few years ago there was a memo in every teacher's mailbox that said "thanks for your hard work" or something to that effect, and a kudos bar taped to it. That's the only time I remember the day ever being acknowledged at all.

You know how I found out it was today?
I got an e-mail from Ann Taylor loft about their teacher appreciation day sale! Really?!
After I did admin. a HUGE favor stepping in covering a 6th class, 4th prep (2nd college class and one that I've never taught) for over a week and a half for an teacher put on "immediate leave" 
Then again, I teach high school, I'm happy if there are no fights or nails in my tires.

More than I got...which was NADA! It wasn't acknowledged at all in my school...and I only knew about it because it came pre-printed on my big desktop calendar from Island School & Art Supply.

we had a lunch today from the PTA. But, pretty minimal- just a couple trays of penne vodka and some grocery store desserts. but, it was nice to at least be acknowledged!
this is my 3rd district... and in other districts, its been a big deal. one district the PTA put on amazing luncheon for us! the moms would come in and serve it to us... and they would make pretty much all of the food themselves, too. (quiches, salads, etc). They also put together a "cookbook" with all of the recipes so we could have them. each teacher also got a single red rose on our way out, too 
in another district there were treats in our mailboxes every day ( notepads, candy, etc) plus a nice lunch. PLUS the principal would have a breakfast for us one of the mornings.
its funny how different things are from distric to district!

We have a breakfast hosted by the PTA next week. I have no idea why they do not do it on the actual day. It's small, but I figure it's the thought that counts.

Today I got a gift card for Target from 8 of my students/families (coordinated by one mom) and someone had a delivery of an edible arrangement sent to school "from" my whole class ( it was probably arranged by the same mom!)
Even my student teacher recieved a small gift and care- super thoughtful!
Still nothing from my admins though
