Does teacher appreciation day warrant a gift in a nursery/day care?
Ds just started a 2 year old program a few days a week. It actually takes place in a daycare.
I read that the second week of May is teacher appreciation week and I think that Tuesday is the "day" .
Does this mean anything? I'm new to this. Would I look like a moron if I sent something in? Maybe a tray of cookies or something?
Do you generally give a gift for this?
I'm also kind of confused by "end of the year gifts". This program actually goes all summer too so ours never really the end of the year, haha.

My ds doesn't have a teacher but if I was in your situation I would not give anything. I would have no clue it was teacher appreciation day but even if I was aware i wouldn't get anything. I'm sure I am not the norm though!!

Re: Does teacher appreciation day warrant a gift in a nursery/day care?
Our daycare hosts a week long event (Week of the Young Child) and one of the days is staff appreciation day (it's actually taking place this week).
Last year (and I believe the plan is the same this year), they had mini massages set up for the staff and a luncheon supported by our donations. This year they were also having a dessert bar where you could donate items.
Last year there was also a class specific donation.
It's obviously voluntary participation on the part of the parents but I love the staff at her school and give what I can (and honestly, it was less this year than last year).

We always give them something for teacher appreciation day. Usually gift cards.

I think flowers or just a nice card is good

I always give a small gift to DD's daycare teachers for Christmas, Teacher Appreciation Day and when she moves to another classroom.
I would like to do more and more frequently like send in baked goods but as a teacher myself I know people are not always comfy eating homebaked foods

Re: Does teacher appreciation day warrant a gift in a nursery/day care?
I've always recognized Provider Appreciation Day for the daycare staff (5/11/12 this year).
However, this year we will combine the days and recognize everyone on Teacher Appreciation Day (5/8). I get about 2 dozen roses in the city and wrap each one individually with a ribbon. The boys hand them out to all the teachers and staff when they walk in and thank them as they hand them over.
It's a little under $20 but it's a huge lesson for my children. They look forward to handing out the flowers.

Last year we gave gift cards to Starbucks, From what I saw, most parents gave something/acknowledged the day/week.
