What are YOUR Church requirements for receiving Communion?

I received a letter from our Church stating that my 6yr needs to take a yr of religion classes at the cost of $275.00 to be eligible for Communion in 2nd grade. What are your Church requirements?

I have to register DD for her 1st year communion class and it is 95 for year 1. Not sure about the 2nd year cost.

DD goes to Catholic school so there were zero requirements, aside from having received the sacrament of Baptism and attend Mass regularly.

Maybe not. I may opt for the home study. I'm a little annoyed with them regarding a few things.

Believe in God. No money, no classes, no forms. Isn't that what it is about anyway?

same. Catholic school here too.

I do know from reading the Church Bulletin that the Religious Ed (CCD) students are required to take 2 years (1st grade and 2nd grade) of class prep for Communion.

So they are taught at home the meaning of receiving Eucharist? Why it is important to us? I am not sure I follow.
