NYC Jobs
Does anyone know any job openings in Queens. I would prefer by the Nassau/Queens border. I have looked on the open market and have applied, but I still need to get my resume out there. I am an elementary special education teacher and I have been teaching for the NYC DEpartment of Education since 2005. I have experience in self-contained classes, Wilson Reading, ICT, and I have taught grades 3-6.

Re: NYC Jobs
I believe (tentatively) that my school is in need for special edu.
Again, this is a maybe, but maybes are better than nothing.

Re: NYC Jobs
I would email and mail my resume to every school in D 25 and D 26. That is how I got my job, it was not posted

Re: NYC Jobs
I am also interested in finding a teaching position in Queens. I filled out the application on-line and I have been placed in the "New Teacher Finder" but every time I check for jobs, there are none posted
How do I obtain e-mail address and address? I did a quick Goggle search but didn't come up with too much.
Also, I heard that NYC really doesn't know what they need in terms of faculty until after July 1st. How true is this? Would it be a waste of time to start sending resumes or should I just wait until after July 1st?
Thanks!

29 is also on the Nassau Queens border. But ITA - just mail/fax a resume to any school you'd want to work in. Worked for me twice!

Email is going to be tricky, but malling addresses and fax #s are most easily found on the DOE website.
Sometimes principals know that someone is pregnant/retiring/moving OOS/quitting, but not always. I have no idea when their budgets come in, but it's usually later than on LI. I'd send resumes now but keep in mind that you may get calls through the summer. For my first job, I was hired Aug 28th!

Re: NYC Jobs
Thank you for the replies. I am going to get started on the mailing of the resumes. Do you think I should mail resumes to schools that I already applied to on the DOE website?

Re: NYC Jobs
I agree with mailing/e-mailing/faxing your resumes to any and all schools. I sent out bunches and bunches last summer. I didn't hear back from any at the time, but got a call in January for a job and was hired shortly after.

Re: NYC Jobs
I would also try calling.
Personally, I was hired in my school because I called and they had an opening.

yes....via DOE mail you can type in a school and then search AP's and Principals. Email the AP's also...it can't hurt, the more your out there the more likely you will be contacted. GOOD LUCK
