Re: walking on tippy toes
I'm not really sure. I would ask your pediatrician. You could always get an early intervention evaluation done also.

early intervention for what
physical therapy but I would talk to your pediatrician first. My twins get physical therapy through EI and it is GREAT!!!! and FREE.

Re: walking on tippy toes
It could be an issue, I'd ask your ped about it. Sometimes it's nothing, but it is a problem that can be fixed

Re: walking on tippy toes
My child was a toe walker. She received physical therapy for it for quite some time, without much improvement. She was casted for it at age 3, both legs for a month. It helped quite a bit.

Re: walking on tippy toes
My daughter was a toe walker around 2 years old. She did not qualify for EI so I took her privately to a pediatric PT. What I learned is that it prevents certain muscles from strengthning properly if I remember correctly. She had about 6 weeks of PT and than I learned the exercises to do at home with her to encourage her to keep her heels down. Now at 4 yrs old, you would never know. Good luck!

Re: walking on tippy toes
I'd talk to the ped bc at this age it *could* be a cause for concern. Not definitely but maybe. I think sometimes it can have something to do with a tendon in the leg (calf) being too tight. Exercises will help.

Re: walking on tippy toes
I did this also when i was young... My mom brought me to the ped and when they put be down to walk I would walk flat footed every time. lol Drove my mom crazy!! Till this day I catch myself walking on my toes. I don't believe this issue calls for early intervention. But definately ask your ped. I'm curious to know what he says! Please update us! =) Good luck
