heartbeats & sex of the baby
i'm 30weeks pregnant and  and the heartbeat today was 138. typically, that would be a  by old wives tales. DD's heartbeat was always in the 150's & 160's.
what are you having and what has been the latest heartbeat?

My DS was always in the 150s so the tale was not correct in my case.

the first HB was 163 i believe.. thats when the tech guessed girl... i am having a boy though.. my most recent HB was 140 a week ago.

I have a doppler and my mom listened to the HB a few weeks ago... she was a delivery room rn for 30yrs and has heard thousands of heartbeats, so she wanted to guess. She said by the old wives tale, I'd be having a girl based on the rate of the HB (upper 150s) but it "sounded" like a boy to her. She wants to listen one more time before we find out to make her final guess ... i cant wait to see if she's right!

HB has nothing to do with the sex of the baby..
It has to do how "lazy" or "active" your baby is (or sleeping at the time of the sono)...lol...
My DD's HB never went up over 140...it was always in the 130's....she was a lazy baby and always sleeping...lol...

I was wondering the same thing.
Saw the heartbeat for the first time last week and it was 140... People have been saying if the old wives tale is true, it would be a girl, but I am thinking boy after reading on here.
I'm only 9 weeks so I've got a while before we find out!

With the HB was 146
With this  it has fluctuated from 140-160, mostly around 150

I had an OB appt. one week before my 20 week sono. The doctor said the heartbeat was 150, and if we believed the old wives tale then its a girl, and it turned out that we are having a girl, so it was right for us!

I know it's a wives tale, however it was right for my sister's 5 kids and my DD, I think it'll be right this time (I'll find out for sure next week!)
