Re: glen oaks
I've been living in Glen Oaks for over 10 years. Actually, our co-op is on the market since we've outgrown the space (3 kids). As for the community, I've enjoyed living here. I live close to Union Turnpike, which makes commuting easy (Q46 to Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens Train Station or any of the express buses into Manhattan). My husband commutes everyday, it's long, but an easy ride. He reads a lot of books and watches movies.
The staff is decent. We have a maintenance department, a management department, and a security office. Maintenance crews maintain the grounds pretty well. There is always some type of capital improvement going on. They keep it nice. If you notice that there is some neglect, you can always call in the office and have them make a work order to fix the problem. Overall, everyone is friendly and helpful.
The monthly maintenance includes: taxes, water, heat, cooking gas, and other maintenance expenses.
This is a nice, quiet place to live. We have some nice neighbors. We are located near the shopping center, so it's convenient for shopping. We also live near the oval, so my kids can go play at the park. Sometimes my husband likes to go and play basketball at the courts. We have on the grounds a lighted tennis court for only residents to use. I like living here, and I would stay here, but we need more space!
Hope this helps. If you need any additional info, let me know.

Re: glen oaks
Let me know if you are interested in working with a real estate agent, if you don't have one already. I recently had a customer who was looking in Glen Oaks Village, so I showed a lot of units there and became pretty familiar with the complex, the different models available, etc.

Ita we lived there for 6 years ( only planned on staying for 2!) we liked it so much, only moved bc of space issue. We took xpress bus into the city for work. Love the bus!! I would sleep the whole way every morning. Good luck!

Great to hear! We are thinking of renting in the area, but heard mixed reviews. We are still in the process of looking, but good luck to you!
