Chapter Book Recommendations
My daughter just finished K.
Her teacher's comment was that she is a strong reader and to challenge her with chapter books over the summer.
Any suggestions? I have no clue where to begin?

Re: Chapter Book Recommendations
Has she read the Junie B. Jones books? Little ones really get a kick out of her!

Re: Chapter Book Recommendations
Do you know her level?
beginning chapter books: Bones; Young Cam Jansen - Adler Henry & Mudge; Poppleton, Mr Putter & Tabby; High rise Private Eyes - Rylant Nate the Great - Sharmat Little Bear - Minyuk Frog & Toad - Lobel Young Amber Brown - Danziger Fly Guy - Arnold
The problem with higher chapter books, while young students might be able to decode the words, their comprehension and inference skills are usually not as high. The above books are level I -L which is end of first grade - end of 2nd grade level.
Going higher might set her back b/c she won't get the enjoyment of reading.
imho
btw: Junie b jones' spelling and grammar drives me crazy.

Re: Chapter Book Recommendations
Her teacher sent home reading level I-J for the summer website that has short little books for her to read. When I asked the teacher what the level meant, she really didn't give me a response back other than different books have different levels.
Right now she loves the Froggy books. I feel they are way to easy for her, but she gets a kick out of them.

Isn't that what reading (especially summer reading) is all about?
Sometimes i think kids are pressured and are pushed too high before their maturity catches up to their decoding and they stop enjoying reading.
Froggy is the best. How can you not like him! She would probably love Mo Willem books too.

Re: Chapter Book Recommendations
That is true, didn't think of it that way.
Thanks for the recommendations. She needs 2 new books anyway so I am going to show her some suggestions and see where this takes us.
