Landscape Help
Hello,
My name is Chris and this is my first post on LIFamilies. I have been visiting this site since I moved from Queens to my new home in Ronkonkoma 2 years ago. I was very impressed at how nice and helpful many of the registered users are and finally decided to register myself.
I recently had some trees and shrubs removed from the front of my home. The area from where these things were removed was very bare, plain and boring and I decided to visit a nursery and plant some stuff myself. It looked nice for a little while, but now it doesn't.
I would like to hire a landscaper/gardener/handyman/individual that can help design and plant some stuff to add some much needed curb appeal to my home.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Maybe someone you know or someone that may have done some work for you.
I thank you in advance for your time and any feedback you provide.

Re: Landscape Help
I don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to welcome you to LIF (or... welcome you to admitting that you come here. ), and welcome you to Ronkonkoma. I've been in Ronkonkoma for over 15 years now.
I can't seem to keep anything growing in my yard except for bamboo and weeds, so I've been doing hardscaping everywhere, so I can intentionally not have anything growing.

Re: Landscape Help
Thanks! Ronkonkoma is a huge difference in comparison to Queens, but I am finally getting used to it.
I'm thinking about doing some hardscaping myself in other areas. This is my first home and it's definitely been a memorable experience.

Re: Landscape Help
This is my most recent project I finished:

Right now, I just finished some block steps, and I'm finishing a block retaining wall. I'll have pics of those once I'm done (I was hoping to finish the wall over this past weekend, but the heat was way too much for me....)

Re: Landscape Help
I agree with the previous poster about visiting local nurseries. DH and I did the same thing and had two different nurseries come to our home and draw up a whole landscaping design for a small fee. The cost of the design would be put towards the project if we decided to proceed with them. Ultimately, we ended up buying the shrubs/plants/trees from a few different nurseries and planting them ourselves. We took ideas from the designs we received and tweaked them. It was a lot of work but we ended up saving over $1,000. Good luck!
