Ductless air conditioning
Does anyone have any experience with ductless air conditioning systems? I have heard it is less expensive than central air, but is it any better? Any info anyone could give would be really appreciated. TIA

Re: Ductless air conditioning
Our friends got estimates for both and ductless was actually more expensive that Central AC.... just less expensive to run electric wise. They went with CAC and a ductless unit in their basement cause the ductwork could not be run down there.
We are actually making appointments to get estimates for both now ourselves.

Ductless air conditioning
I had CAC done this past Saturday. I went with the duct system. The above post is right in the long run the ductless is more efficient that the other one. I saw some work from landlord who does this on the side. I didn't really like the ductless system how it looks. They have to put the units in each room. I just didn't like the way it looks.

Ductless air conditioning
It really depends on how your house it set up. For me to have a split system for my entire house I would probaably need 2 compressors (one on weach side of the house). Plus not a fan of the units on my wall.

Re: Ductless air conditioning
When we bought our house, it had ductless AC. We have the Mr. Slims. We have 4 units in our house (a cape). It works great, and it is super quiet you can't even hear it when it is on. Ours also pumps heat. No complaints, especially today

Ductless air conditioning
We're having ductless installed next week. We can't get CAC because we don't have attic space so this was the next best thing compared to the wall units we have now. They will be so much quieter and more energy efficient.

Re: Ductless air conditioning
We have ductless heating and ac and we LOVE it!! We have the best units (we had to get them becuse they are our only source of heat in the winter and some units don't work below 17 degrees). They are so quiet, super efficient and I love that I can set dd's room to 7/ at night and our room even colder (we like our rokm frigid). A few people we know are now investing in them after seeing them ib use at our house. They are fabulous. The units/compressor cost us about $6,000 and installation was about $2,000. Hth
