How can I select a comfortable baby carrier?
I have a 6-month years old child and I want to buy a baby carrier. But it is really hard for me to choose a suitable baby carrier that can make my baby comfortable. Anyone who can tell me some tips?

Welcome!! I like the ergo. It's a bit pricy, but I love it and scoured the internet for a sale. But you will get better answers posting this on the parenting board.

I agree..the Ergo is comfortable and rated very well in terms of baby's spine alignment

Re: How can I select a comfortable baby carrier?
When DD was little - there was a group called the LI Babywearing group - they had meetings in Huntington & I think somewhere else on LI where you could try on different wraps, etc. They might be listed in yahoo groups or meetupNY.
I had an EllaRoo wrap & loved it! Even used it well into toddler years. It takes a little time in the very beginning to learn to tie, but becomes second nature very quickly.

I have a baby Ktan and love it. I'm getting an Ergo this time too. There are baby wearing groups on LI and all over FB, so you can get some tips that way.

Re: How can I select a comfortable baby carrier?
I would suggest going to a store and trying out the different carriers. I live in Great Neck - if you're close by I would be happy to let you test out mine. I was a baby carrier enthusiast (DH thinks I'm crazy). The ergo is great, but my DS liked to face out and was not always that happy in it. He was never a fan of riding on my back either. DH liked the Bjorn - he felt the other carriers were too feminine. I loved my sling - I could wear DS to the car and then just keep the sling on me - without the bulk of buckles. When he was a little older I used a Mei Tai carrier - I found a babyhawk on ebay with a built in pocket for super cheap. Hope that helps.

I love the ergo esp as they get older and I have heard great things about the Beco Gemini, both are pricey, but I think worth it if you want to wear your LO often.

Re: How can I select a comfortable baby carrier?
Unfortunately I've gone the inconvenient and expensive route of trying a bunch!
I have an order in for an ergo since I'm kind of over the sling and moby we have (the moby is far too warm and takes too long to put on which is an insta-killer for me with twins).
Try them out, or at least order/buy from a place where you can return it to!
