Is Seasame Place worth it??

We were thinking of taking our 3 year old tomorrow (Saturday) but now I am worried the lines may be too long. Does anyone know how long the average wait time would be? Our other options are Dutch Wonderland (which we LOVE) or The Land of Make Believe in Hope, N.J. (which we have never been to). So any help/ suggestions are appreciated. Also, we would leave tonight and book a hotel room for the weekend.

From what I hear, SP is a zoo on the weekends. And for what they charge for admission to an average at best place (again... only from what I hear) I wouldn't think it would be worth it. I'm tempted to take my kids there but wouldn't go anywhere near this place on the weekends.

my SIl was just talking about taking my neice there over the summer. they did not end up going because the cost of admission is $60, i think she said and its the same whether your a kid or adult. this would be fine if you were actually allowed to go on a ride with your kid in case they got scared or something but you can't.

I'd like to suggest the Twilight pass, if they offer it. You can't go into the park until 3, but it's less money. We took DD when she was 2 and she hated it- we were there for less than two hours. Fortunately we'd gotten free tix from SIL's neighbor who worked there. So when DD wanted to go again I was not paying for full price tickets. By the time we got there people were starting to leave and we were there till they closed at 8. DH and I did go in the Lazy River and all the splash things.

Of course you can ride the rides with your kids! I don't know where you got that information from, but it is wrong. We have taken the twins since they were two and have had a season pass for the last 3 years.

For us, the park is only 1.5 hrs from NYC, so we shoot down sometimes just for the day. The park is clean and maintained. Of course it gets crowded, but so do most theme/water parks. We have never waited more then 10 minutes for a ride.

If you buy a day a season pass now, you get all of next season as well! Totally worth it! In the fall and early winter (if good weather) SP has lots of activities for the kids for Halloween and Christmas.

Re: Is Seasame Place worth it??

We were there two days ago. I personally would never even attempt it on a weekend. We waited on average 20-40 minutes per ride (water rides were more like 40 min). On weekends I would think the wait would be much more.

I am probably in the minority since people seem to flock there, but I did not have a very good first and only experience there last year. IT WAS PACKED. An 1 1/2 wait for the merry-go-round. Not fun with a 2 y/o. The park is not very big and even though I pre bought my season pass, we will not be going back.

i also refuse to go to these types of places on a weekend, but if you don't have any other option i would make sure to get there even before they open...

we took DD#1 when she was small, it was a cold day off season so we only did the non water rides which was perfectly fine (i don't dig the water stuff). now with 2 DD's we don't plan to go back, we are actually hitting dutch wonderland next week instead...

we went to land of make believe for the first time earlier this week. it was a day trip for us, only an hour away. we went on a weekday and showed up when the park open. we experienced little to no lines on regular rides, but the water section started to get crowded as the day progressed. this place is definitely geared towards the little ones for the regular rides (although my 6 year old had a great time, i'm thinking she could handle more "exciting" rides, my 3 year old loved every minute), some of the water stuff we didn't even try as it was geared for i think 8 and up without an adult, not sure though... it's a SMALL park, personally i would not pay for an overnight stay, but that was a non-issue for us since we are so close...

We went last Saturday.

Get there early (when the park actually jsut opens!) and go straight to Elmo's World and try the small rides there first before the lines start. The carousel line isn't too bad and the flying fish went pretty quickly. There are some other small kid rides that you can try too.

After that, when it gets crowded, go over to the water section - where there are no lines for most of the rides that your 3 yo would be interested in. You can walk right into the little pools and sprinkler park.

Totally worth it. We had a great time with our 2.5 yr old last week!

The parade was great too! I think there is one at 3pm and one again at 9pm.

Have fun!

It's always been packed when we went as well.

It's def not our favorite park. It's small, and VERY expensive for what it is. We went last year with a group rate discount ($25), but I wouldn't pay $60 for it. I would never go there on a weekend.

Any park is going to be packed on the weekend during the summer. It's a given.

If you can, go during the week. I went during the week in July and it was fine. Not long lines at all.

Is Seasame Place worth it??

We went last Thurs and Fri and my kids (3.5 and 2) loved it. We went on everything with them. They have something called Abby's Magic Queue pass - an extra $15 but it allows you to skip the line on all dry rides as well as the lazy river and one or two of the shows. Well worth it! My kids were not interested in many of the big water slides so we didn't have to wait on those - there is not a wait for the sprinkler/splash areas. We can't wait to take them back!

I was going to say this. We got the Magic Queue pass when we went and it was awesome. If I was going to Sesame on the weekend- that is definitely what I would do!

15 per person. 5 month old is free, up to you if you want to say the 2yo is not yet 2 ;) and then you wouldn't pay for a ticket for him either

You can buy an Abby's magic queue pass for $15 per person to cut the lines on each ride once. Parents are allowed on all of the rides.

Re: Is Seasame Place worth it??

We were going to go to Sesame Place a couple of weeks ago but the $60pp price tag held us back.

Instead, we packed lunch and went to Land of Make Believe instead. It's small, the rides are definitely for small children, but it was a lot less expensive and my kids had a great time.

The water area was crowded and the longest wait was for the lazy river - for good reason too because I could have stayed there all day long if my kids would have let me - but at the end of the day I was glad we made the trip.

Yes!!! My DS loved it and he's 3. We did the lunch with Elmo and Friends and he couldn't stop smiling about it all day. It is such a nice memory for us! We did it as a day trip. Left at 7 in the morning, got there at 9:45 and left around 4:45. Such a great day! Chat Icon
