Riverhead Aquarium is this place really worth the money?!?

Even though my kids are still free I can't believe it will cost DH and I $21.50 each.

Is this place really worth it now? I went early on when they first opened and I thought it was a waste of money I'm pretty sure admission was cheaper too. Is there a real life whale or something there now??? Anyone go recently?

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed and I don't have too much of an interest in returning. It was small and it gets really crowded too. The food was your typical cr@ppy cafeteria food and of course overpriced. It was just very average IMO.

That's exactly how I remember it. The only thing I can remember are thos sting rays as soon as you walk in, the octopus and the gift shop you HAVE to go through so you can exit the place. Oh and a lot of donation boxes...

I'm thinking of taking my kids to the pet shop by me where they can see fish, birds, snakes, puppies (lol) free and we'll buy a new fish for our tank.

IMO, no it is not worth the money at all. If you dont mind the drive, Coney Island Aquarium is alot cheaper and def. worth it.

I think it is better than when it first opened. Some of the stuff that I'd be interested in is extra money though (boat ride) I'd bring my own lunch or find something on main st there. Its probably more fun for the kids than adults but than again if your kids are so young its free..I am not sure how much they'll appreciate it...for them it might be like almost as good a really nice pet store? I don't know of another aquarium nearby thats better? I always like to be the first one at places mid week if possible. Crowds are just not worth it.
