If you DIDN'T hire entertainment for an at-home birthday what did you do?
We'll have a few kids at my DS's 1st birthday party but not a ton (family only). What are some things we could do for them? Ages are 1-6 years.

I bought a bounce house, bought a small bubble maker, pinata and an art station! Also pool and water table but it was summer. Kids always seemed busy!!

We had a pinata, outdoor lawn games, a water table, water balloons and a snow cone machine. I also had some coloring books and crayons on a table.

Her kiddie pool, kick balls, sprinkler ball, and a clothes line fort. It was perfect.

For my DD's birthday party, we seemed to have the same age range kids....I had a water/sand table, crayons, paper, coloring booking, play doh, sprinklers, bubbles, bug nets and I put a big bowl of fruit loops with laces to make necklaces (that was a big hit).

We usually do: pull-string pinata, pin the tail, and crafts table.

We had a pinata, pin the tail, coloring books, and some balls. The kids had no trouble entertaining themselves.

I bought a bounce house, a few balls and honestly the kids just had a ball running amok outside and playing hide and seek in my house. Worked out much better than I thought it would. The bounce house was a hit.

We sectioned off a little spot in the yard & had a kiddie pool & put a few of DD's toys out (play kitchen, balls, sidewalk chalk, bubbles) The favors for the kids were bags of toys so I gave them out in the middle so they each had their own little things to play with. Just some cheap stuff like frizbees, plastic maze games, a little slinky)

My DS birthday is in December. The first yr it was at home, and we played "pin the nose on elmo" (sesame street theme) and musical chairs. We even included the grown-ups so that killed a lot of time. Everyone had a blast.
