Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
31w4d today....feel like I'm fighting my way through each day...sometimes just trying to make it through minute by minute.
I'm determined to keep these babies in as long as possible, of course. Would love to make it to 38w...
At the same time, the thought of going 6 more weeks, (or even two more weeks) like this gives me anxiety attacks and makes me want to cry. (Some times I do cry, esp at night when I'm so exhausted and can't even lie down). I'm basically up all night in this tortured woozy state which I'm sure is wreaking havoc with my emotions.
Then, just about everyone, including dr and nurses, keep telling me I won't make it full term.
Well, they may be right, but why introduce that negative thought to me? Plus, they don't know, so I want to tell them to STFU, but of course, I use my limited emotional energy to smile and say, "Well, I'm determined to keep them in as long as possible."
Anyhow, I'm just struggling so much physically and mentally that I would just love to hear some encouragement from the BTDT MoMs and other MoMs -to-be.

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time...I am too early in the pregnancy to hit this stage yet (I was just crying over the constant vomiting this morning though), but I just wanted to send hugs to you, and encouragement that the mind can do amazing things. Stay as strong and as determined as possible...oh and let hubby spoil you to death..this is a once in a lifetime (for most anyway) situation, you WILL get through it, because you have no choice...and just envision those beautiful babies in your arms very soon

I agree with this. The only other thing I can offer is try to find 1 or 2 things that you like about pregnancy (feeling movement/eating what you want/healthy hair or skin, etc) and try to remember that its temporary so that you can enjoy it more. Its hard when you're physically drained and being so tired makes everything worse
Seriosuy, if there's ever anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask.... And DEF let DH spoil you!!!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
Oh honey. You can do it! I know it is so hard especially at the end. I remember my OB telling me I ONLY had 5 weeks left. Well to me it was like 5 months. I just started crying in his office. Not to mention I had an awful case of PUPPS I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and they said the only cure was delivery. Well I was begging him at 35 weeks to deliver me because of that damn rash.
I cried every day. I was a mess. My hormones were wreaking havoc on me, my rash was so itchy and out of control, nothing helped, and I couldn't sleep so I was a zombie and slept in 2-3 hour increments.
I gave myself little goals each day...like decide what I was going to get my dad for Christmas, research birth announcements, etc. and made lots of lists-lol. I just took it on a day by day basis and made it to 37w3d. I was so proud of myself for that!!
You can do it! Hang in there! You are at the home stretch now.

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
what about getting something diff for u to sleep on?
like a recliner or whatever position u can get any sleep in
and what about a wheelchair for everyday getting around if walking is too much
do u think the docs said u might go early to make u feel better bc they could see u r not happy
can they give u anything to sleep? what about benadryl? i think we could take that
just remember this is all worth it and when u r holding those babies u wont even remember any of this
u can do this!

i am nowhere near the end so i cant really give advice, but i agree with the above idea to help the time go faster.
good luck!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
Do you have Netflix streaming? I got myself engrossed in Greys Anatomy (I had never watched before). I put myself on bedrest at 34 weeks when I decided to stop working. I watched Greys Anatomy all day every day until I was admitted to the hospital with pre-e at 35w2d. Still watched it in the hospital until my C section at 35w4d.
You can do it!!!!!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
please please please try and tell yourself you will be ok. I wish I had my babies safe in my belly and growing. I just had my girls tues at 32 weeks. I wish i had another week or two for them, but my situation is different.
Def look into netflix or have someone go to the book store for twin books (even though I didnt want to read on bedrest) but anything to distract you form the pain to keep those babies in there is worth it!!
Can you sleep during the day? Try and catch up on sleep then. I know I felt better during the day and slept. Come night, I was full and had fluid and was so uncomfortable.
Good luck!!! FM me you want to vent or talk or anything!!!!!

Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
So sorry to hear that this is causing you anxiety and panic. Would you try Benadryl? In the book I am reading, it gives so many suggestions for what to do when on bedrest, but nothing for the insomnia. Maybe this will work (for me it does when I can't sleep) i talk to them, read to them, and I picture them and how they're going to be, from the birth all the way to having them chase the dog around the house in their sundresses! The stories I read to them are from a bible stories for kids book and stuff that rhymes, like the Cat in the Hat. I also play music and sing to them when I can. The journey to get here was emotionally more draining and confusing than the discomfort... you're almost there!!!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
OMG, thank you so much everyone! Your words are SO helpful. I really appreciate them. I have been & will continue to re-read them & implement your ideas.
The weekends are a bit better b/c people are around - I'm dreading the week but trying to keep things in perspective & create more of a structure to my day.
I'd like to respond to each of you individually but I'm so swollen, I can't stand to sit at the table or have laptop on my lap (where it doesn't even fit) so I'm writing from phone.
If I feel up to it, I'll write more during he week.
Thanks again so much!!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
Hang in there!! You can do this..You are doing the most amazing thing for your children and it will be worth it!!! I remember at the end of my pregnancy being so tired that walking to the car was a chore. I often laugh that recovering from a c-section was a breeze compared to carrying twins in the last weeks. Try to focus on one day at a time.

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
Thank you so much! Yesterday was quite rough - a lot of physical pain and feeling low.
Today, I'm doing better mentally, though, which I'm very grateful for!
It will probably be a lot of ups & downs the rest of the way! But hearing other people's stories, I realize things could be even worse so I'm trying to be grateful for my situation!

Re: Need words of encouragement for making it through the end of the pregnancy
I'm so sorry....but you will make it til the end. I never thought I would make it and didn't sleep for days, because of feeling so uncomfortable. You just have to keep thinking positive and the wonderful end result will be well worth it. It's probably one the hardest things to endure on your body, but however long you make it you should be proud of yourself no matter what. Don't let those doctors get you down, Good Luck!!!
