Sorry Crashing again...RH Negative

I just got my blood work after a chemical and found out I'm RH Negative. I'm just wondering if anyone has this and what their experience is with it? Did you have a healthy and normal pregnancy? Did you get pregnant on your own and easily? Any insight would help.

Thank you and sorry for crashing again!!!

I'm RH neg and it was not an issue at all. You just have to get the Rhogam shot around 28 weeks or so and then again when the baby is born if the baby is RH positive. I had 2 kids and now pg again and I'm not worried at all.

Re: Sorry Crashing again...RH Negative

I'm RH neg and DH is RH positive. It only becomes a small issue if your husband is RH positive bc there is a possibility of the baby being RH positive as well. When this happens you have to get a shot to prevent your body from producing antibodies against any future pregnancies.

In my case, I had an early mc at 6 weeks and was not given the shot, I then had a mc at 9.5 weeks and did receive the shot bc the further along the pregnancy is, the larger the tissue, the greater the possibility of blood mixing with your blood. After receiving the shot I went on to have a healthy pregnancy. I was given the shot at 28 weeks and once my son was born and his blood type was tested I was given another shot bc his blood type is B+.

I am pregnant again, 16 weeks along, I will be given the Rhogam shot at 28 weeks again and will follow the same protocol is DC #2 is positive as well.

If you have any other questions, FM me. And btw, my mcs had nothing at all to do with this.

i am not Rh- but I do an something similar - an antigen/antibody issue (DH is E+ and I am E-) This is an antigen that binds with blood.

Basically, if they baby is the opposite of what you are, your body can become sensitized to LOs blood and create antibodies to LOs blood - killings LOs red blood cells potentially making the baby anemic.

I had such a hard time finding information unil I came across an Isoimmunization group on babycenter.com

this ISO group is a HUGE source of information. Seems NO ONE on LIF had any clue what I was talking about when I first posted. Google Rh Isoimmunization and you will find information.

This is the group - I suggest you sign up and then ask away! everyone is SO helpful and everyone there understands what you are going through!

ISO moms

let me know if you have any specific questions! I am 19w with my second ISO pregnancy. I began creating antibodies to E before my son was born so I already have been sensitized. This pregnancy is considered very high risk as my titers (antibody levels) have steadily been increasing.

My mom is RH negative and all four of her children were positive. No complications w/getting pregnant, staying pregnant, or deliveries. We all needed a shot at birth, but I think that was it.

I'm RH negative and I got pregnant very easily on my own. This pregnancy is my first and it's been smooth. I'll be getting a blood test next week to see if I'm producing antibodies and will receive the Rhogam shot at 28 weeks.

My sister is also RH negative, got pregnant easily on her own, had no pregnancy complications as a result of her RH status, got the Rhogam shot at 28 weeks, and her baby is doing quite well.

I am RH negative and DH is RH positive. With all of my pregnancies I needed the Rhogam shot at 29 weeks and then they gave it to me in the hospital after I delivered.

Same here except I only have one child who was also born RH Neg so we didn't need the shot once she was born but I did at 28 weeks! I'm pregnant again now and will also get the shot again at 28 weeks!! No issues at all healthy normal pregnancy

I'm RH negative and both DCs are RH positive. I got the shot at 28w and after they were born. With DS 2, I had the shot around 13w as well since I had some spotting - just to be safe.

I had issues getting pregnant the first time around but, that was due to the fact I wasn't ovulating and was fixed with Clomid. No issues the second time.

Thanks girls! I always feel better hearing it from people who have experiences with it rather than what the internet tells me (I'm learning to stop googling) and even what the dr says (always seems like the down play everything).

Re: Sorry Crashing again...RH Negative

It's just your blood type .......I'm O-

It has no effect on getting pregnant, having a healthy pregnancy/baby etc at ALL -

The only thing I had to do was get a Rhogam shot b/c DH is O+
