My son just turned 6 the other day and still wears a pull up to bed! HELP!
He wets it every single night. Soaks it actually. I have tried limiting his drinks after dinner but it still happens. He is SUCH a deep sleeper. I have tried waking him up and its literally like trying to carry a 60lb sleeping boy to the potty. It is SO hard to wake him up.
IDK what to do, but Im sad for him and Im tired of the urine smell :(

What if you don't put him in a pull up? As much of a mess as it will be for you to clean, maybe letting him wet the entire bed and lay in it will encourage him to wake up. Get a plastic waterproof mattress cover so you don't damage the mattress and get lots of sheets.

What about one of those alarms that go off right when it detects urine?

Is he tall? a lot of bedwetters are tall. their bodies need more food/liquid to keep this bigger body going, but the bladder isn't always ready for that.
DS#1 was like that. (50 in, 60 lbs at 6) we used good nights.

:( No advice, mine will be 8 next month and I still can't get him to use the potty at night. It's like if he's not grossed out by being soaked how can you get the point across to go and not go in his pants? If I come up with something I will be sure to let you know!

Question..Does he snore? My daughter was like that until she was 8! Turned out she has sleep apnea, which is why she went into such a deep sleep and never woke herself up. She had her tonsils out in January and has not had an accident since February!!

He really doesnt snore, and a couple times I forgot to check he had his pull up on and he didnt wake up until the morning, soaking wet and the whole entire room smelled of urine. Still no luck. He really is a DEEP sleeper.

Id definitely consider that. Do you know where I can get one?

But won't that just wake him after the fact? Will it actually teach him to wake up before needing to go?
Maybe talk to his ped about having him tested for sleep apnea, as a PP did?

Re: My son just turned 6 the other day and still wears a pull up to bed! HELP!
Those alarms actually detect the moisture from the urine on the underpants so they get woken up when the need to go. We tried waking my DS up at a few intervals and it worked some nights. But after some research, we decided to hold off because he's only 4. But when we try this again, we're going to get one of those alarms. My husband did a lot of research on the alarms and says you can get them at Amazon. He looked at this site to get some tips:
Bedwetting alarms
I hope that helps a little bit!

Re: My son just turned 6 the other day and still wears a pull up to bed! HELP!
My friend had what I believe was a sleep study for her son and she knows that her son goes into a deep sleep that they can't really prevent. He's improving on his own with age but she felt better when she learned not to push it, that it was not even in his control.

Re: My son just turned 6 the other day and still wears a pull up to bed! HELP!
My daughter stopped wearing pull ups about four months ago. She is now 8. She too is such a deep sleeper. We found she does better wearing nothing on her bottom. She wears nightgowns. I know, she's a girl. But that is the only way she wakes up to go to the bathroom. Maybe he can wear a long tee shirt. We just recently stopped waking her up every night at 11 to go to the bathroom. We were consistently doing that every night. We also bought the good night pads for the bed. They were awesome and saved her mattress. It is frustrating, especially since this seems to be the age that sleepovers start. She doesn't want to sleepover anyones house. We tend to have the sleepovers here. Good luck. It is also very common.
