Our school said no junk food, not sure about yours, but I wouldn't do gummy bears. They are horrid for the teeth anyway!
I bought a lot of the applesauce pouches from Trader Joes. No spoon, and easy to open! Grapes and cheese sticks are good too

Re: Healthy/organic snacks for school
Hi Jola! Here are some other things I give them for snack or lunch.
air-popped popcorn (you can even make in the microwave in a paper bag) homemade granola bars baked potato chips rice cakes tortilla chips cheese sticks, mini babybel cheese raisins/craisins crackers with cheese or sunflower butter graham crackers dried fruit
We don't do sticky treats so no gummis, fruit leather, etc.

Re: Healthy/organic snacks for school
I plan tomorrow to send DD with raisins and apple sauce pouch. We have it a bit harder bc we are in a nut/peanut free class but DD also has a lot of allergies (just not to nuts).
Cheese and crackers cheese sticks fruit veggies yogurt sticks yogurt shake crackers w/ hummus or carrots with hummus

Re: Healthy/organic snacks for school
For DS#1 it's easier - he eats almost anything, so vegetables are a treat for him.
DS#2 will do apples, bananas, gold fish (not really healthy, but I need to stretch for him) and triscuits. Believe it or not, triscuits are made with only three ingredients!

Healthy/organic snacks for school
I am sending DD with strawberries, a piece of string cheese and two Oreos. She requested the Oreos but I told her she must eat the other things too. Once she's a little more acclimated to school I'll send a granola bar or something less sugary.

Re: Healthy/organic snacks for school
Honestly, although I give them to my DDs, anything packaged and processed (goldfish, pretzels, crackers, cookies, and many of the items the posters listed here, even when labeled "organic" are NOT necessarily "healthy") but obviously are better than Doritos!
The kids like them and are convenient and need something mid-day so I do sent something like Ritz, goldfish, teddy grahams. I make sure their 3 meals contain fresh fruits and veggies because I find packing fresh snacks doesn't work in brown paper bags.
