closing ?
we're closing tomorrow on our first house (eek i'm freaking out!!!)
Our attorney just called us and we have to bring 3 checks?
one to the title company
one to the real estate broker for the seller and one to our real estate broker.
everything else is supposedly in the amount we're getting from the bank
does this sound normal?

why do they get made out to the real estate agents and not the bank? i'm so confused. i think stress has gotten the best of me

You have a certain amount of money that is due at Closing to sellers. Often sellers will ask that a portion of the amount due to them be made directly payable to the Real Estate Agents that they owe a commission to. It simply avoids them having to get a check from you to turn around and make a check out to the realtors. Sellers can ask that the checks be made out to whomever they like, for example, if they owed money on their property a purchaser will sometimes cut a check to the sellers’ lender. It depends on the transaction but it is very common for checks to be made out to people other than directly to sellers.

That's all I had to bring that was certified. Then I had to bring my personal checkbook and write a few more while I was there.
