I got an AWESOME phone call! (update)
I got the call today that they want to bump Leah up to 1st grade!
They said she is reading words on a 4th grade level and fluently reading through 1st grade!
So, we are meeting with the Principal and teacher on Wednesday to go over the options! I am THRILLED that they see this in her!
UPDATE 9/12:
We met the the teachers and principal today and we are going forward with it! She will go to the First Grade class for a few subjects today and then she will be in First Grade as of tomorrow!

That's great!!!!
Just make sure you consider if she's emotionally ready, as one year is a big difference at this age

Thats great Katie!!! You should be so proud of her. See and you really could have sent her last yr like you wanted. Stupid cut off dates. She's a smartcookie : )

I wanted to push it last year, but I didn't want to be "that Mom" who make a stink about it. Yet, when the teacher called, she said "I know some Moms say their kid is smart, but we have something else on our hands here!"

Awesome news Katie. We did the same thing with our DD and she is so happy in her class. I know that it probably wasn't an easy decision to make, but at the end of the day its more important for your DD to be actively engaged in her class, rather than bored and disengaged.
