Dairy = good or bad?
So I switched up my breakfast routine a few months back and instead of toast I know have a high protein yoghurt - chobani, fage etc.
But here and there I read about dairy being bad for you.
If anyone can expand on this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Re: Dairy = good or bad?
I know for me dairy would cause my blood sugar to go up-
it's filled with hormones and anti-botics given to cows
and this is a huge one for me
In his book The China Study, Dr Campbell explains that a protein called casein, which makes up 87 percent of cow’s milk, promotes cancer cell growth. In fact, several cancers, such as ovarian cancer, have been linked to the consumption of dairy products.(1) In order to increase milk production, cows are given the bovine growth hormone (rBGH) – a man-made or synthetic hormone which increases blood levels of the insulin-growth factor 1 (IGF-1) which promotes inflammation and the higher the level of IGF, the higher the risk of developing cancer.

To add to what Beth said, casein is also believed to have addictive properties.

Re: Dairy = good or bad?
Dairy proteins are harder for us to digest. A lot of people get bloated from dairy. I had a dairy allergy as a kid "out grew it" and once I stopped having it again and then try and re-introduce it I look like I am 3 months pregnant. My DD#1 has a dairy allergy and so I know what to avoid. I do still have cheese cooked in eggs and it seems to be ok because the protein gets broken down. I stay away from yogurt, cheeses, milk. I don't use a lot of butter in general but if I need to I will or I will use Earth's Balance which is vegan.
I also switched everyone except the baby over to Almond milk. I tried a few times but she doesn't like it. When I wean her off the bottle I may just make the switch to almond milk for her too.

I am trying to cut out dairy, I drink Kefir in the morning instead of yogurt. It's 99% dairy free. Maybe try that?

Kefir is 99% lactose free but it is still dairy.

Everything in moderation. Eat/drink milk products but not gallons. It's like meat, you can eat it just not everyday.

Not all dairy farmers use hormones. If the product is labeled hormone and antibiotic free it is a safe bet it is free of both.

Re: Dairy = good or bad?
I avoid dairy for the reasons alreayd mentioned plus i am lactose intolerant. I do have greek yogurt occasionally bc its really convienant. I also have a thin sllice of cheese on my eggs and meat. I don't drink milk. I use coconut or almond milk in my shakes.
