Missing lots of work in first trimester
Hi. I'm in my first trimester... 8 weeks, and I've been missing about 2-3 days/week of work. I have FMLA on file, so my job is safe, but I still feel pretty awful about missing so much work. I guess I'm just looking for others that are going through same thing. I have extreme nausea and fatigue, all day, every day. It really feels like flu symptoms. This will be my 3rd child. Thanks for listening. Amanda

Re: Missing lots of work in first trimester
I hear you. I'm 7.5 weeks and I feel awful too. On the weekends I nap for 1.5 hours a day, but on workdays that isn't an option. I also have a DS so it makes it even more tiring. So far I haven't taken a day off but I know that I am taking one next week. I'm saving my days for my maternity leave. I feel like I'm in the same boat as you. I try to keep telling myself to keep my eye on the prize, but it's hard when I feel so nauseous all day. This too will pass...right?

Re: Missing lots of work in first trimester
I understand how you feel. I WISH every day that I could stay home from work but refuse to. I get up and go even when all I want to do is sleep and throw up. I want to have the days for my maternity leave or god forbid something should happen and the baby come early and I will not waste them now. I know it's hard but just do what you can and you will get through it!

Re: Missing lots of work in first trimester
Try Zofran and save your FMLA time for after your LO comes!! You only get 12 weeks (60 days) in any 12 month period and it goes fast!! Fingers crossed the ms ends for you soon!!!

Re: Missing lots of work in first trimester
This is my third pg too and with all of my pregnancies I felt the same way...extreme nausea, vomiting multiple times a day, and really, really tired. Zofran helps and I would take a nap during my lunch period. I would also sit throughout the day as much as I could. I never missed work because of it though...just tried to find ways of dealing with it. I agree with another poster, save your FMLA days for when the baby comes

Re: Missing lots of work in first trimester
I had to switch to part time bc of "morning sickness". Zofran did nothing for me, I couldnt go to work and throw up all day, so I had to step down - so I can definitely relate to what youre going through. It sucked and it still bothers me bc I was never able to get my position back.
Sometimes ya gotta do what it is best for you and baby even if it's not ideal.

Missing lots of work in first trimester
I can't take zofran makes me sicker so I've missed 2 days so far and left early 1 day. I throw up anywhere from 4-8x a day so you can tell how bad those days were for me to go in. Ms is horrible its the reason I had to tell my bosses at 6 weeks bc I am always in the bathroom or coming in late. Do what is right for you and your body. Everyone and every pregnacy is different
