Hodgkins Lymphoma
I was wondering if anyone knows what hospitals are best for treating Hodgkins Lymphoma or how to even research programs. My DH's 17 year old niece was diagnosed around Christmas last year, she's gone through chemo & radiation at a pretty prominent children's hospital. After all of that, she still has active masses, which is apparently fairly unusual. I was just wondering how to find other options for her. TIA

Re: Hodgkins Lymphoma
I am so sorry for what she is going through!
I feel very strongly that cancer in our area should be referred to MSK. We are lucky enough to live near such a premiere cancer centre; I have known people who have traveled from other states and countries to get seen here.
That said, our family has personal familiarity with two cases of Hodgkins, both diagnosed in stage 4, and both successfully treated as MSK. If you ring the referral line, a very educated nurse will talk you through the process and match you with the correct doctor.
Good luck!

1000% agree with the pp. one of the best hospitals you can go to. My brother went twice and is healthy today. Good luck, my brother was young when he was diagnosed, it's not easy. Ill be praying for her.

Re: Hodgkins Lymphoma
My son had a form of non Hodgkin. Are there clinical trials? Have they contacted St Jude? (A lot of trials there). Are they a member of a fb group for HL? I am one for Burkitts Lymphoma and we are constantly bouncing ideas of each other.
17 is a tough age as its still pediatrics, but they are almost adults. Boston and Philadelphia are the top ranked hospitals for pediatric oncology. Cincinnati and St Jude would come next for our area

Re: Hodgkins Lymphoma
My mother has (had, she is in remission) Stage 4B Hodgkins Lymphoma. She got it at the age of 18, she got pregnant with me at 16 (I was an oops), had me at 17 and got the cancer at 18. she went through massive chemo and radiation that she wasnt able to carry any other children so that is why I am an only child (I guess God works in certain ways!). Anyhow, strongly recommend MSK, she was given at one point 3 months to live but with such great care she is now in remission and completely healthy :) a true survivor!!

Re: Hodgkins Lymphoma
I don't have any hospital recs but I was treated for stage 4b hodgkins at North shore oncology. I was 21 when I was diagnosed, it did take a year of treatments but that was 10 yrs ago and I have a clean bill of health. Just wanted to offer some It is the best cancer you can get if you have to get one and I'm sure wherever she goes she will beat it!

Re: Hodgkins Lymphoma
Thank you all so much for your responses! I showed this thread to my husband, so he can give his sister whatever info he thinks she will use.
