Diet woes...Need Advice

Lately the foods I normally eat seem to be upsetting my stomach. My doctor has suggested I reduce my fiber intake and try to maintain a low residue diet. Of course this diet is the direct opposite of my normal diet. I generally eat veggies, lean meat, egg whites, squash, nuts and some gluten free grains and minimal dairy. I am lactose and gluten intolerant. I only drink water, tea and coffee with half and half. I am getting frustrated and my stomach is not getting any better. Any suggestions?

Can you try switching out the veggies you eat for maybe some gentler ones? Like instead of broccoli, try string beans? Make sure you are eating only cooked veggies too? What if you try using sweet potato, quinoa etc a bit more until your stomach issues ease up and then you can add more high fiber veggies back?

I agree 100%! Avoid raw veggies and try eating "gentle foods" like berries and fruit without the skin. Also try adding broth into your diet. I have an amazing veggie broth recipe that helped my stomach tremendously when I was having problemsChat Icon

For some reason nuts really bother my stomach. Have you ever tried cutting them out?

Here it is. Super easy!Add any extras veggies you'd like. It's pretty much fail proof and a great base for lots of soups. I keep some in my freezer at all times.

Nuts kill me too, unless they are very very dry roasted. Raw nuts are like razor blades in my intestinesChat Icon Chat Icon

I never had a problem with nuts before but lately they destroy my stomach. I have cut out all nuts, most raw veggies and all seeds. I have decreased my fiber intake and still no improvement. I am going to stick to egg whites, soups, grilled chicken and fish for a few weeks. I think it may be partially related to stress and lack of sleep.
