Are there are any good doctors out there at all? Anywhere???
I feel absolutely discouraged about being able to find a doctor who is able to listen, think creatively, make eye contact, who has a clean office with quasi-professional support staff....
I think it is impossible. I am so down about this.

It's very difficult and frustrating to find a good doc. But they are out there!
What type of doctor are you looking for?

I know exactly what you are saying. Since moving to LI I have seen I think 4 different primary Drs and switched specialists a few times as well. It's crazy. I know more then they do. One guy kept insisting on giving me ibuprofen over and over and I had to keep reminding him I am allergic. I swear he was trying to bump me off!
Anyway, I don't know where you are looking, but I found one "I like so far" in Bayshore. It's a husband and wife practice. I like to see her better. She seems to have a better understanding of me and my body then he does.

The staff can be a little "Slow" but then again, maybe they aren't. I'm just pretty fast lol I find myself getting annoyed waiting for them to finish a sentence.
So far, she is the best Primary I have seen.

I can relate. I need one and literally forgo my own medical care alot of the time b/c I cannot find anyone competent.
It scares me to think one day I could wake up and really need someone for something as simple as strep throat, etc, and I dont have anyone!
I dont get it.

I am in Eastern South Shore Nassau, but I do feel a good doctor is worth traveling to.

We like Dr. Levitt on Park Blvd. in Massapequa Park. He's a couple blocks North of Smokin' Al's.
He has one office person who leaves a lot to be desired, but I think there's a token one in every doctor's practice.
DH's family and several friends have been going to him for years.
He's very thorough and I like his assistants/nursing staff.

I see Dr George Ruggerio in Shoreham. He basically saved my life and I don't know where I would be without him. He always listens, always. His office has the most caring staff I have ever dealt with.

I love my primary. I travel from farmingdale to nesconset to see her. Office staff is always friendly. Dr takes your issues seriously without sending you for tests just because.

I also felt the same way for years. I switched to my current PCP 5 years ago, and he is a D.O.
My GI dr that I see regularly is also a D.O. and I am very happy with them both. Maybe it's coincidence, but I never really cared for any doctor I've seen, until these two. They have a slightly different approach and demeanor it seems. Maybe try looking for a PCP who is also a D.O.
