Hair straightening?
I need to do something. I cannot stand blow drying and then flat ironing my hair. It takes forever. A good hour; sometimes longer. It's just too much, especially now with a toddler running around my house.
What do you recommend? I have very thick and curly/very wavy hair.
Japenese sounds like a dream. Having "wash and go" hair would be amazing!!! What about keratin or brazilian keratin (is there a difference)? I'm just afraid of the formaldehyde. Does JHS have formaldehyde?
I need help because I'm completely clueless. What do you prefer/recommend, JHS or Keratin? What's the pros and cons? Which do you like better and why? Which is less damaging? Are they safe with a baby in the house?
Thanks!!! I really want to get this done soon!!!!

Re: Hair straightening?
I would recommend NOT going with the Japanese hair treatment. I had it done about 7 years ago, and there is still proof it s in my hair. My roots come out curly and the rest straight. I also have thick wavy/curly hair. But its not good for your hair. Even though they claim "wash and go," I still had to use an iron to go over it. It cut my blow drying and ironing in half probably.
I haven't gotten the Keratin but have heard wonderful things and its better for your hair.

Hair straightening?
I have been doing the keratin for years. After a bad experience with the JHS I will never do that again.

Hair straightening?
I highly recommend Keratin. I do it every few mos. I still blow dry my hair, but it's much quicker, and zero frizz. No flat iron needed. Pics in album

Hair straightening?
I've done both and for me Keratin does not last. I would 100% do JHS regularly if I didn't color/highlight my hair so frequently.

Re: Hair straightening?
I have been doing JHS for over 8 years and love it! I don't color or highlight my hair. It is definitely wash and go. As far as I know there is no formaldehyde in it

Re: Hair straightening?
The Jhs is great if you dont have highlights and go to a person that is experienced. It is wash and go and does not have formeldhyde in it. The Brazilian Keratin Treatments for the most part have formeldhyde in them. and if they dont they dont work as well. The levels have been lowered in all the products across the board. It is not a straightner however it will smooth your hair reduce the curl and cut the drying time. At Salon Nouveau you can get both treatments done at a great price!

Re: Hair straightening?
I did JHS about 5 years ago...first time it came out amazing but every touch up after came out less and less amazing. When I found a new hair place, she couldn't believe how damaged my hair was. I switched to keratin, which I love, but as some girls said it just doesn't last long enough. I had mine done in August and I feel like it's already all gone, even with using the sulfate free shampoo. Friends of mine did JHS and their hair had way less damage. I would speak to your regular hair dresser and see what advice they can give you based on your hair type. Good luck!

Re: Hair straightening?
keratin did not reduce the amount of time it took me, just kept it from getting frizzy.
