building sets....
We have wood blocks sets, keva blocks, friends and construction lego sets. Both girls are big on building. Would like to get each girl one set (nothing too expensive like under $50 closer to 25 range if possible). Looking for something different that takes a lot of imagination. For a 5.5 and 3.5 yr olds. My 5.5 is a huge builder. She loves the friends sets but it takes her no time at all to complete them, then she wants a new set. I was thinking of something a bit different.
DD #1 had fine motor deficits so I want to encourage her love of building esp with the smaller or more difficult sets.
Anyone have something they love or new suggestion?

Re: building sets....
Don't know if you'd be interested in a larger "joint" set, but we have owned a set of Magnatiles for 2 years now, and it is STILL the most played with toy in our house. My 6 yr old plays with it practically daily, and now my 3 yr old can easily build with it too. When kids come over, everyone loves these. The thing is, a set is like $100-- it was a big Christmas gift from Grandma and Grandpa to my DS. They don't sell them at Toys R Us or Target, but you can order them on Amazon. I swear I sound like I work for the manufacturer, but they really are the greatest building set I've come across.

That is more than I want to spend since it isn't their big gift but it might be something grandparents want to buy! They were asking so I will see if they want to get it.

Re: building sets....
How about straws and connectors? I know my older son started playing with it in school and then asked for it.
this is a huge set but they sell smaller versions. My boys are 7.5 and 5 and they love it for a couple years now. It always comes out when their friends come over and they build lots of stuff with it.
