Nassau Resident - Tax Reduction Services
I get a few mailings a week from several different tax reduction agencies (Maidenbaum, Fred Perry, etc...), telling me I should be concerned with the upcoming assessment roll. Has anyone used their services to grieve taxes? Are they legit? and was it worth it?

I haven't used a service, you can do it yourself if you want. The services will take a % of the money you save and some take a small flat fee as well. They will always say to be concerned with the assessment roll, its a way to bait you into using them.

Re: Nassau Resident - Tax Reduction Services
I have too much on my plate and have no intentions of doing it myself. I was wondering if anyone else used one of these companies. anyone?

i have been using maidenbaum for years. I recently posted that i finally WON! 1K per year... so i owe them $500.00
but my decrease within a year will pay off... not this year, but at least next year (escrow will decrease as long as % doesn't increase!!)
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much! was there a lot of effort/paperwork on your part to fill out? or did they take the reigns?

We haven't done it yet but we just found out at closing that the previous owners did, and the company takes a % based on the savings. We're probably going to do it and a few people mentioned it's worked for them .

We use Scott Stone (516) 593-0202. Our initial grievance was denied and he went to court and appealed and we won.

I was able to do it myself and had the property reassessed to a lower number but how do you know how much you saved and when does the savings kick in. The letter that I received from the County says nothing about this.
