Bayville's Winter Wonderland
We just got back from Bayville's Winter Wonderland. don't post too often, but I really felt like I had to warn others about this place, it was terrible. We got tickets through Groupon so we did save $10. Thank God we did, b/c it wasn't even worth the money we spent!
1/2 the lights were half lit and most were impossible to see what they were supposed to be pictures of. The light show portion was actually through their mini golf course, so you were walking through all 18 holes, it was very dark in some places, you had to step over brick partitions that were surrounding each hole, wires were hanging down-an complete accident waiting to happen. The train ride was small, cute for my 4 year old but there was not much to the ride at all.
The arcade was a complete rip off and when a machine took our money but then didn't work, my husband told the attendant and he was told the manager would be there in 20 minutes to refund our money. We didn't skate, but the rink was very small and people said it was near impossible to skate on, they said it felt like rubber. There weren't many happy people there tonight.
They advertise roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Well that open fire was a fire pit, right in the middle of where people need to line up to get their skates. it was so dangerous. No one was attending to the fire, and with children walking around looking at everything I am surprised no one tripped over it.
I have no problem spending money to do things with my family, especially at this time of year. We try to do one holiday related thing each weekend leading up to Christmas. We even drive to PA to go to the National Christmas Center and Koziar's Christmas Village (which I would highly recommend to everyone!!) every Thanksgiving weekend. So I am happy to find new activities for my son to participate in. However I really felt this was a complete waste of money. If you're looking to see some holiday lights, go to the Girl Scouts light show in Bayport. That is worth the money spent and it is much more enjoyable.

Ugh how disappointing! I remember reading another bad review on their Christmas stuff in the past! You would think they would have stepped it up this time around.

Re: Bayville's Winter Wonderland
Thanks for sharing. I just bought tickets on Groupon and was hoping to go next weekend. I am about an hour away, so I would have been very frustrated if I drove that far for nonsense. I'll try to get my groupon refunded.

Re: Bayville's Winter Wonderland
I think that if you don't use a groupon, you can use that amount towards a future groupon-look at the fine print it tells you what happens if it expires, which is what you could do. just let it expire and then use the money towards another groupon I think!

Groupon has great customer service, so just email them and tell them the reviews have been terrible. They will likely refund you, or give you credit toward another Groupon.

Bayville's Winter Wonderland
groupon u suck too!!
Hi Teresa,
Thanks for reaching out to us and I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
We typically only offer refunds when there is a problem with the service or if the vendor displays an act of customer disservice. We do not issue refunds based on the experience of another customer or an experience documented on a review website.
Our Groupon Promise exists to protect people from having a poor experience when they use their Groupon. We want our customers to know that we are there for them in case something goes awry when they try to redeem it. It doesn’t happen often, but we’re there in case it does! You can read more about the spirit behind our Promise here: https://blog.groupon.com/cities/the-groupon-promise/
We encourage you to try this business. If you have a bad experience when using your Groupon, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Regards,
Evan S. Groupon Customer Support

Bayville's Winter Wonderland
ok it actually was my friend who posted it. She said areas where dark to walk through and it was an accident waiting to happen. So ok I will travel 45 minutes west and then when something happens I will sue them, that doesn’t make much sense to me. I guess when the other people commented that Groupon has great customer service I should of not listened to that part either.

Call and speak to someone...usually works better than email. I got a credit just because I wasn't going to use it (on something totally different) before it expired.

Re: Bayville's Winter Wonderland
: 110% disappointment ... Took family here instead of city and what a mistake that was. Got to the place and went on a tiny little car so called train without tracks that went around twice. Couldn't even fit entire family in one car. People in front of us were saying what a rip off this place was. When we asked the train driver if that was ice that people were attempting to skate on he stated that it was glice.. Looked up glice so such thing. This is NOT ICE SKATING. Yes they loan you ice skates, but to skate on a surface that is an interlocking type of plastic material that is impossible to stand on with skates. Could barely stand on it with skates never mind skating on it. Kids were so frustrated and disappointed with it... There was a fire pit with tons of smoke blowing all over.. No marshmallows or hot cocoa to be found. The light show was a total joke to.. It was walking through a mini golf course with pirate paraphernalia. Some of the lights Christmas lights were out so you couldn't even tell what some of the stuff was. Fake dead corpses, pirate statues, and skulls around. This stuff does not go hand in hand with Xmas. Santa and elves were nice, but bad picture print quality. Santa's workshop fun house had a weird smell in it and the strobe light at the end makes you feel anxious and uncomfortable. My opinion is don't waste your time or money on this place. Hick's nursery which is free offers more fun than this place.. Also, owner of the place couldn't defend it because there was nothing to defend. OWNER REFUSED TO GIVE BACK MONEY TO DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER. Never ever again. MY OPINION, DON'T WASTE TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!!
