What do I eat w Crohn's disease?
I was just diagnosed w mild early onset crohns
I don't know what to cook. I'm gaining weight from the meds and I can't eat fresh fruits or veggies or high fiber foods. What do I snack on during the day? I'm just having carbs...
Please share your menus and recipes w me.
I would really appreciate it

I have Crohn's and I am not on dietary restrictions. You my want to keep a food journal to see what bothers you. I find the only thing I can't do is a lot of salad. Alcohol can also bother me a bit. Everyone is different really. Did your doctors tell you to stay away from high fiber foods? is that for long term or just until you are feeling better?

I have to eat a low residue diet. No fresh fruits or veggies or high fiber foods.
When I'm better, he said I can eat a bit more normally in moderation.
I just ordered the book breaking the vicious cycle and also a recipe book for crohns sufferers.
Thanks for the journal idea!

What do I eat w Crohn's disease?
stay away from the low residue food, as well as dairy until your body heals a bit. Also, things with seeds, nuts, etc can bother your intestinal lining during flare ups and inflammation. There is a chiropractor/nutritional wellness dr in sayville named dr christine gizoni that has helped a lot of people with crohns and their nutritional needs.

I'm taking prednisone, entocort and asacol
The prednisone is a tapering dose- tomorrow I go down to 10mg for a week and then the next week I go down to half a pill. I started out on 40mg.
I need help planning a daily menu, snacks, etc

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. My husband was diagnosed with Crohn's when we were seniors in college. It was terrible for him. For a long time he kept a journal to kind of see what worked for him. He also stuck to brown rice and chicken for most lunches and dinners and for breakfast would have eggs and oatmeal. He now is able to vary his foods a lot more but knows that too much roughage, blueberries and strawberries or bread products in the morning on an empty stomach send him into a tailspin! Dairy was never an issue for him though. Best of luck to you!
