Disneyworld in August
My husband and I are teachers and can only go away on school vacations. We are thinking of going at the end if the summer to avoid that. Does anyone have any experience with going to Disney at the end of August. Our DC's will be 5 and 7. Is the heat unbearable?

I was there in the brginning of August as a kid and remember it being very hot... Almost unenjoyable. Not sure if it is cooler toward the end of August.

Re: Disneyworld in August
I would recommend the end of August. Many schools around the country go back to school in mid/late August so the crowds will drop off significantly. For me, I can stand crowds OR heat but would try to avoid both. If there are fewer crowds you'll spend less time waiting on line and it will be easier to navigate in and out to go back for an afternoon nap/swim break.
I'm not going to lie, August in FL is HOT. Roasty Toasty hot! But you can work around it with a good plan.

Re: Disneyworld in August
It's hot! DH and I went in August 2011. It was 104 degrees the day we landed. By the end of the week, it cooled off to a balmy 97 with 90% humidity. It's doable but we needed to take a lot of breaks

Extremely hot and the humidity will wear you out fast. That said, we work with a lot of teachers and other families who follow the school schedule and you can do it. It takes a solid plan, the understanding you'll go back to the resort for breaks during the heat of the day, and a willingness to both get up early AND stay up late (siesta break, anyone?).

I found so many different opinions on this - some say NO WAY, way too hot and others say they didnt mind the heat so much and liked how it wasnt that crowded
