Anyone else scared to take DC to a ped's office for a well visit?
I'm not one to panic, but DS has a well visit for his shots next month and I am so afraid to take him because of this terrible flu going around. I'm sure the waiting room will be full of sick kids. He already had Influenza A when he was 2.5 months old and was very sick, scary sick, so now of course I'm terrified. I'm also scared that DD is going to bring something from school, but that's another story
So I'm thinking maybe I should not bring DS next month and wait a little bit . Plus I'll have 2 visits because I split his shots. He's had all his shots so far. Wwyd?

Does your ped have separate waiting rooms for well and sick visits? Has your son had a flu.shot this year?

I would do this and explain to the office how you want to avoid waiting in a possible infectious area. I know my office only has well and sick sides which makes no sense bc they are still on the same room. I usually am a psycho and tell the front desk we are waiting outside if it is too packed and they put us in a room away from all the sickness. I know it may be difficult with the level of flu and stomach bug going around though

I'm worried too. DD has her 18 mont well visit this coming Wed and I'm nervous because I don't want her playing with all the toys in the waiting room. I don't know what to do and I know she won't listen if I tell her "no" to not play.

I am feeling the same way, DD has a rash that I would like to get checked out, as well as her 15mth well visit at end of month but I'm so afraid of bringing her there and being surrounded by sick kids and as pp mentioned I know she won't listen when I tell her not to play with the toys

Can you bring some toys along? Maybe something new so she's excited about it? Make sure it's something that can be easily washed after you leave. If it's plastic you can wipe it down with a Clorox wipe. Bring wipes or hand sanitizer to use there and again when you leave. If they don't have sick/well waiting rooms, ask if you can wait in the car, just make sure you wash up after going in to ask them. That door handle is covered with germs! Bring your own pen too!

It might sound silly but when my daughter was that young i would go in and tell them i was waiting in my car so when they were ready for her they would call my cell phone. They were very good and totally understood my worry...

I went in to have my kids ears checked after they both had eat infections. My doc came to us right away and checked my kids and told us to wash our hands and go. I don't give the flu shot so he got us in and out rightaway.

Keep her confined in a stroller. That's what I always did.

Re: Anyone else scared to take DC to a ped's office for a well visit?
My LO well visit is next week and I am not afraid. We have been to the ped a few times in the last few weeks and I make sure my LO do not play with the toys and I wash hands in the sink in the room before we leave. My older DS got the flu shot as did I but my little guy did not. My DS gets so upset in the waiting room because I try to hold him on my lap so he doesnt touch anything.
