DH and I have been there twice and we love it. Obviously very pricey like most steakhouses but sometimes you need to splurge.

We've gone a few times. It's nice, BIG, trendy decor, food is good. I wouldn't say don't go, but I do think there are much better steak houses for the price. Also depends on if you want that huge space or you want something more intimate. We eat out a lot (DH has a lot of dinner meetings that I go to with him) and I would go again, it's just not my first pick. You have to get the donuts for dessert if you go, trust me on that

I was not a fan. Felt it was overpriced and I wasn't happy with the service. I have been in much better steakhouses in NYC .
There are much better steakhouses for much less money- but then you can't 'say' you went to INSIGNIA. All hype if you ask me
21 Main in Sayville is better IMO And less pretensious

There is no way in heck that I would pay 40+ for a sushi roll there! They are more hype than anything. Sometimes people think if their paying alot and the decor is nice it must be the ish.

I agree with the sentiment of it being overpriced and overhyped. DH and I went once. Had horrible service and the food was not worth the money or the wait (even though we had a reservation). If you look in the potentially related topics at the bottom of this post, my review of our experience is in one of them I think.

Re: Insignia Steakhouse in Nesconset
If you go for their $100 dinner for 2 on Sunday nights, it is worth it. I found the food good, and the wine even better! They had 50% off bottles of wine over $100, so for $50 we got a $100 bottle of wine instead of $40 for a $40 bottle of wine.

Went there a few months ago and we hated it, The food was not very good and the service could have been better. Oh, and the waiter decided to freeze us (we had a private room), cause he was hot. I will not be going back there.

We have had great experiences there. The food, the service and the drinks were fantastic. I would actually like to skip a formal dinner one night just to go to hang out at the bar...get some apps and drinks. It has great ambience there.

This exactly. I think you can get better food for the price at the CHOP Shop on main street. Dinner for 6 of us was almost $800 with tip.
